I tucked my gun and left out the door. Once again, Shaun was on my heels. He was a child when he was around me. I didn’t mind it because out of Big Greek and Linh’s kids, I was the oldest and the one that held the most responsibility. My parents and siblings were always gon’ be able to live that carefree life.
We hopped back in my whip, and he instantly got to touching shit. I couldn’t even crank the car up good before he was changing the station. I slapped his hand down as soon as he put that weird ass nigga R. Kelly on. I wasn’t with the shit Robert was on.
“Aye, just ride nigga. Stop touching shit.”
“I like to bump and grind every now and then. Shit, step in the name of love, too,” he laughed knowing that was the quickest way to get on my nerves.
“Get out and call an Uber,” I said throwing the car in park.
Still thinking shit was a game, he buckled his seat belt saying, “Make me. I bet I call BG right now and make him knock you off yo’ square,” he threatened.
“You a snitch and now you really got to get the fuck up out my shit. Oh, and tell BG he run you, not me,” I said reaching over popping the door handle.
My phone got to ringing the second I sat back. Looking at the dash, I saw that it was my Pops. I immediately looked over at Ashaun. He was cheesing from ear to ear. One thing he did well was play that aggravating lil’ sibling. It never fuckin’ failed. My glare was deadly, and he was all of amused.
“Answer the phone, Scar,” he taunted.
“I’m gon’ beat yo’ ass,” I said tapping the dashboard screen. “Yeah Pops.”
“Magnus just called and told me what you did. Your mama isn’t happy. That was her nephew, Arion. She’s big on family, you know that.”
“Yeah, well I’m big on loyalty. She gon’ have to get over it, BG. You know I ain’t ever gon’ let a snake sit comfortable in my fields no matter who you are. I love her, but I’m not changing how I operate, Pops,” I answered.
He released a low chuckle then replied with, “I know it. Why Ashaun texting me on bullshit ‘bout you? Leave my son alone, Arion,” he chastised me.
“Tell yo’ fuck ass son to get the hell out my car. I ain’t got time for this shit. My mama probably waiting to chew me out, and I’m waiting to chew on her food.Snappedon as well. I got better shit to do than put yo’ son in the dirt today.”
“Get here. We got to talk anyway. And Shaun, leave him the fuck alone!” he shouted before hanging up.
I threw the car back into drive and peeled out from the warehouse. Shaun surprised me by shutting the fuck up. He was in his phone texting whatever bitch and smiling. Him entertaining them bitches caused me to think about the weekend I previously had. I was drunk out of my fuckin’ mind but a nigga had a ball. I couldn’t lie.
Shawty gave a nigga a run for his money but there wasn’t a thing I could recall from her feature wise. All I knew was a nigga consumed so much alcohol that night I couldn’t tell you nothing ‘bout nothing… except the pussy I was in. That gushy shit was embedded in my mind. I knew my way around her shit like it was home. I needed that again, and I couldn’t even put a face to it.
“When we going back to Vegas?” Shaun inquired.
“I’m not going back no time soon. I ain’t have no business being there to begin with. It ain’t shit for me out there buttrouble and dementia. I can’t remember shit that happened last weekend.”
“Nigga we had a ball. You and yo’ wife was on one. Damn, I guess I should call her sis’ now, huh? Boy a time was had,” he said offering that same ass goofy smile.
I came to a red light and instantly looked over at my dumbass brother. I did a lot of wild shit in my day, but a nigga would’ve known if he was married or not. My face couldn’t hide the confused emotions I felt. Not only was I in turmoil, I was genuinely worried that the bitch was ‘bout to drain me for all my assets.
“What fuckin’ wife?” I questioned.
Ashaun laughed once more then said, “Clover. She so goddamn pretty man. I see why you wifed her up. Shit, I would’ve, too.”
I had to join in on the laughter. I wasn’t an irresponsible individual. No matter how fucked up I got off that ’gnac, making dumbass decisions was never the case. That was all Ashaun’s doing. He was fuckin’ with me. He had to be.
I shook my head and pressed the gas. “You play too much. Get serious ‘bout something in yo’ life nigga. Goddamn.”
“Muthafucka, I am serious. You and Clover got married last weekend. Shit, we tore Vegas up. Got to give it up to Frames for throwing a hell of a welcome home party.”
My family left the country every three years to do a full year in Vietnam. We left to spend time with our family over there and my mama time to touch her roots. BG honored every request my mama had. He put that woman before any and everyone. Shit, it was a time when Shaun and I was kids, and we thought disrespecting her was the best choice. He wasted no time putting us in our place. We ain’t played like that since.
However, that welcome home party couldn’t have landed me in a marriage I ain’t know about. The morning after, I was alonein the room I paid for. The pussy I was digging in left like a good girl and I had no complaints. Wasn’t a note, certificate, or shit in sight. Ashaun and his bullshit wasn’t ‘bout to get me riled up.
“What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas,” I replied shrugging it off.
I kept driving in the direction of my parents’ home. I didn’t know why they decided to move to Sage Springs but if they liked it, I loved it. Let them tell, it was peaceful. It took a lot of getting used to, but I learned the streets fairly quickly.
