He seemed far too familiar with my person for my liking.

“You think I wouldn’t find out who you were? That you were going to continue to make a fool of me? Use my money and not give me what I want!”

The urge to laugh was so strong but I held it together. I knew that voice. It was obvious who it was and yet I was surprised somehow that he’d gotten this close to me. Or had become this obsessive. The face had been familiar but I had trouble placing it. I was worried because I knew that whoever it was shouldn’t have been here and I’d set myself in the line of fire.

“Who are you?”

“Oh, you can have me paying for you to afford a place like this but you don’t know who I am? You should be on your knees thanking me for the life you live yet every time I see you, you look at me with such disdain. I am the only reason you exist the way you do.”

His tone was snarled and it was intriguing to see how easily men made things up in their minds. He’d know this arrangement the second he’d filled out what he was looking for on the website. Our meeting at the club had been for my ego, not his but he’d clearly needed something more than being a happy little pig. Which wasn’t what we’d agreed to.

I loathe liars.

“I have several generous people in my life right now so no, I don’t know who you are.” I needed to continue to harm his ego because he was going to make a mistake.

He pressed his pelvis into my ass pushing me into the door where he felt he had me trapped.

“Maybe I won’t give you a name. Since you like to be a disrespectful bitch. Having anonymity might work out for me totake what I want.” He started to kiss the side of my neck through my hair and my brain locked up momentarily.

“Is that what this is about? Being told no for once in your life? A girl can’t decide she doesn’t want to sleep with someone.”

“I’ve paid for you. It’s not my fault you sold yourself on that site.” I tried to move away from him but felt his hands in my hair keeping me still. There was a gun nearby and it was just out of my reach.

“That site said nothing about my body being for sale. The times I’ve seen you, did you think I was going to provide you service beyond what I had? That’s your shortcoming.” I laughed even as he jerked my head back aggressively.

“But you were with him. I saw you and I told you I wasn’t going to stand for it. And then what you did once you walked out! You thought you could threaten me and I would forget?” He jostled me and I was even more irritated with Ori Nakoa than I’d been before.

“I do not know what you’re talking about.”

“He woke up looking for you. Near frantic. I told him to stay away from you because you were already involved. He laughed at me. Laughed! I could almost smell you all over him. You have a very distinct and lingering perfume. I bet you don’t even realize how well it mixes with your pheromones but it is enough to drive me insane.” He leaned forward and sniffed the air beside my neck again as though it was the origin of my perfume. I frowned again hating that he was so damn close.

“Whatever you think you’re owed I will happily cut you a check for it right now. I haven’t spent a dime of your money on anything in my home. The money that you’ve sent means less than nothing to me. You have the audacity to come into my home where I sleep and think that everything will be okay for you. That it will all work out? That is audacity in the highest.”

“There was little you could do to stop me from doing whatever I wanted. Realize the position you’re in,Miss. Avery.” Something metallic was at my back and I could only assume it was a gun.

“It’sDoctorAvery, you asshole.”

“Titles don’t matter here. C’mon and give me the tour. I’m anxious to see what my money has brought. There’s no way you could afford this place on your own. I’ve given you millions, nothing you say will convince me otherwise.” He’d snaked a hand through my hair and was pulling it backward, attempting to drag me away from the door. He was lucky that was where I actually wanted to go; otherwise I’d have been angrier.

I was going along willingly but that didn’t seem to be enough of a torture. He let his fingers dig into my scalp, his lack of nails causing the blunted digits to irritate the skin.

I bet he hasn’t washed his fucking hands.

I was going to have to go to my fellow Habesha sisters and get an Ethiopian oiling treatment when this was done. After I scrubbed myself raw.

“I’m sure you’ve got plenty in a place like this that I want to see you in. Before I see you naked. I want you to be my personal doll and play dress-up for me like a good girl. You and that big ape you call a man aren’t going to be laughing at me behind my back.”

Well, he wasn’t going to use racist imagery and live to tell the story. I would have to stab him extra for insulting Ori.

“You would prefer for us to laugh to your face then? Because that is about all that you’re going to get from me, ever.”

He yanked my head back again as his teeth connected with my cheek. His breath smelled of a soured spirit that he’d clearly consumed to give himself the courage to approach me. I was furious at him having the nerve to come to my house but when his teeth sank into my flesh my rage took over any lingering fearI might have had and my only thought was how I was going to end his life.

“You would do well not to tempt me to act hastily. It’s just the two of us here tonight.” I felt him grow harder and he wanted me to be scared and I refused to give him the satisfaction.

“And what? You think that I’m is going to let you waltz in here, do what you want and then you waltz back out unscathed? Or that this little show you’re putting on is somehow going to make me more compliant with whatever other disgusting torture you have playing out in your head? That’s not at all what is going to happen. I am more than likely going to need legal representation.”

“All that mouth. I can’t wait to see how you look on your knees for me.” He continued to shove me forward but not until he’d grabbed my chest and squeezed.
