I groan. “Isn’t that why we’re here? To make a plan?”

“It’s been a few weeks, so I dunno. I figured you at least had the bones of a plan.”

I glare at Calvin, the irritation seeping through my veins. “No, Miller. I don’t. You’ve seen how off my game I am. Do you think I’ve been capable of getting a plan together to ruin my friendship and hope my best friend could fall in love with me?”

He shrugs, a shit-eating grin on his face. “You never know.”

“Stop it, Cal.” Grace hits him on the shoulder. “Lucky for you, I’ve been thinking.”

Trigg interjects. “I have, too.”

“You have?” I ask.

Trigg smiles. “Of course. We are a team, yes? I want to help you get your girl.”

“Thanks, man.”

“What are your ideas?” Grace questions, pulling out a notebook and pen from her bag.

“Have you ever seen the movieHow to Lose a Guy in 10 Days?” Trigg asks.

“I don’t think you understand that movie, Addy.” Calvin chuckles and raises an eyebrow.

Trigg shakes his head. “No, but I do. They fall in love at the end, yes? What if instead, you have Ten Dates To Fall In Love?”

“Oh my god, yes. I love that! That’s way better than anything I had.” Grace jots that down on a blank page, then writes the numbers one through ten down the sheet.

“I do like that,” I say as I watch Grace.

“Aadland, you’re a bit of a romantic, aren’t you?” Calvin teases.

Trigg shrugs. “I watch a lot of movies.”

“What dates could you go on?” Grace bites the top of her pen. “What are some of Lydia’s favorite activities?”

“Figure skating, baking, crocheting, musicals, hockey—obviously—Christmas.” I continue listing various things.

“Hmm… What about a Christmas festival? I saw on Facebook that there’s one opening up down by Cinder Valley. That could be fun.”

“She’d love that. Write that down.” I point to the pad of paper, but Grace is already writing.

“What if you took her to one of those baby stores?” Calvin asks. “That could show her you're not just there for her, but for the baby, too.”

Grace points her pen at him. “Yes. Genius.”

We spend the next hour plotting out elaborate date ideas, comparing schedules, and even calling the GM of the Minnesota Blue Herons to see if I can borrow the arena for one evening. Once we have them all listed out and a few days on the calendar, I’m much more confident in this plan.

All that’s left to do is ruin the friendship.

Hey Lydi-bug, did you know that the baby is the size of a lemon right now?
