I’m sure they’re all piecing together that I’m Bernardo Bellucci’s daughter, who was supposed to marry Salvatore Rossi, but now here I am, married to Enzo instead.

I don’t think anyone gossips as much as people in the Mafia.

We continue to stand here for a while as people come up one by one to personally offer their congratulations. We do this for about half an hour before Enzo stops them.

“I’m going to get my wife seated so she can rest her feet,” he says to the people standing around us. “You’re more than welcome to stop by our table.”

He walks away, and we sit at the head table. He brings me something to drink and some hors d'oeuvres to nibble on as we continue to get people stopping by our table.

“You look so radiant and beautiful, baby. Are you having a good time?” Enzo asks when there’s a lull in people visiting us.

“I am. This is so much more than I expected! Your mom truly went above and beyond,” I tell him, with happiness in my voice. He leans down and kisses me, and for a moment, I forget we’re surrounded by a room full of people until his father speaks from beside us.

“Stop pawing at your wife,” he jokes.

“Go find your own wife to kiss,” Enzo grumbles, joking with his dad.

“I would, but she’s been busy all night. I’m going to nail her down later.” He laughs.

“Eww! I don’t want to know about your sexual escapades,” Enzo groans while I just laugh at the two of them and their banter.

It’s so odd seeing them joke with one another like this, especially when I know that they could literally kill someone in a second if they had to.Yep, I got that from the gossip mill rumors… well, from Giana, but that’s where she heard it from.

I spot her with Bruno at one of the tables, and it looks like she’s having a good time, too. That’s all I want for her. She’s the only real friend I’ve had since I wasn’t allowed to attend school anymore, and I want her to be as happy as I am.

The food is served, and everyone eats and drinks as the room fills with chatter. Once dinner is done, the dance floor is opened, and Enzo and I have our first dance together.

“Are you enjoying the night?” Enzo asks.

“I am. Are you?”

“Oh yes. I have my gorgeous wife in my arms, what could ever be better than this?”

“Nothing. Absolutely nothing,” I tell him honestly.

“You’re damn right about that.”

When the song ends, and a new one begins, everyone who wants to dance joins us on the dance floor. I’m laughing, dancing, and having a good time.

I never wanted such a big party, but I’m so glad Lucia threw this one for us because it turned out amazing. I’ve been smiling all night, and my face is starting to hurt from all the smiles. Tonight, couldn’t have been more perfect.

CHAPTER 30

ENZO

I’ve just brought my wife back to our table so she can get some water to drink and rest her feet after dancing for a while, when Aldo walks up to me, whispering in my ear.

“Hey, baby, I’ll be back in a few minutes. I have to run to the office really quick,” I say to my wife.

“This late?” she questions, brow furrowed.

“Not my actual office downtown. My dad’s office is here in the house,” I tell her.

“Oh,” she says, laughing. “Okay. Come back soon.”

“I will. Stay right here and don’t move,” I tell her, giving her a kiss, before walking over to where my mother and Giana are standing. “Stay with my wife, please. I have to take care of something really quick in Dad’s office.”

“Of course,” they both reply, walking over to our table where Aria is sitting.
