You’re my heart, my soul, my everything now, my love.

“Mmmm, keep talking to me like that and you’re going to make me come.”

“Is that right?” I lower myself down onto her and whisper dirty little Spanish things in her ear.

“Yes,” she purrs, her body reacting to my words.

The walls of her pussy tighten, and I nearly see stars. “If you keep doing that, I’ll come,” I grunt. Dove does it again, and I fall apart. “You asked for it.” I don't hold back, not like I could, and unleash the arousal I had been keeping at bay. I pull one of her nipples into my mouth just before my climax peaks, and she comes unexpectedly.

We fall together on a bed of glorious surrender. Coming undone at each other’s fingertips. Free of everything that stood between us.

Each one of my limbs is sore and achy, and my body depleted, but my heart is full.

What more could I possibly ask for?

“Food,” Dove grumbles. “I need to eat.”

Okay, food can definitely go on the short list.

“Hunting and gathering, my specialty. Pizza or Chinese?”

“Mmm, Chinese. Eggrolls and wontons.”

“Done. With some chicken and oyster sauce.”

I order enough to stash extra in the mini fridge.

We shower and change before the food arrives. I stalk the window, making sure the delivery guy doesn't show up with any uninvited guests. Word has to have traveled that Dove is out of jail. That can’t make who wanted her there happy.

We won’t stay here much longer. Another day or two until we can find some more permanent arrangements. Thank God for Taylor. Without him, we’d be lost, and most likely on the run. I owe him big for this one. But when I look at Dove, I know I made the right decision. She’s worth it. Judge Morales was right — I am a fucking bleeding heart, but only when it comes to her.

Dove and I eat, watch a little TV, then get naked all over again.

We squeeze together on the single bed and watch the last bit of day turn into night.

“What will happen once it’s all over?” Dove asks, drawing circles with her finger across my chest.

“My best guess is witness protection. Taylor wants your supplier in Mexico. Give him that, and we can get the ball rolling.”

I hear the uncertainty in her breathing. “Stefania picked her path, Dove. Now it’s time to choose yours.”

“I know, but it still isn’t easy. I’m betraying her. She’s my best friend. No matter what situation we’re in.”

“I know. But this is war, and we all need to choose a side.”

“I wish I could talk to her.”

“It’s way too dangerous. You need to lay low and out of sight.”

“Can you get a message to her?”

“No. That’s also way too dangerous. We need to be smoke, vapor. It’s our only chance to stay safe and stay alive. I’ll fake your damn death if I have to.”

“That would definitely send a message I’m gone.”

“Precisely.”

“So what happens after I die and resurrect?”
