That did it. The second they pulled into the parking lot and Jonah parked in a spot, Emmett undid his seatbelt and lunged for the gorgeous man, licking his lips until he opened his mouth on a gasp and their tongues tangled together. He knew it wasa little different than Jonah was used to, but from the throaty groan he let out, he didn't seem to mind.
Fingers dug into Emmett’s fur, making him growl in appreciation as he moved on from Jonah’s tasty lips to lick at his neck instead. Jonah gasped and tipped his head to give Emmett more room. It was a sign of submission with werewolves, and it made Emmett salivate to take things further. If Jonah liked Emmett’s tongue in his mouth, how would he feel with it around his cock or in his ass?
“Gods… Emmett… We need to–” Jonah gasped as Emmett’s tongue tangled with his again, silencing his protests. Emmett didn’t want to stop, his body thrummed with the need to drag the gorgeous man underneath him, but he didn’t want to push Jonah too far either. He pulled away slowly, both of them panting when he finally broke the kiss.
“Sorry,” he mumbled breathlessly, suddenly realizing what he’d done. They weren’t in a real relationship, and Emmett had mauled Jonah like a werewolf in heat. He hadn’t even asked permission first. He floundered a little, unsure what to say, when Jonah let out a husky laugh.
“It’s fine. You said we had to touch in order to sell the lie, right? Kissing is touching.”
The reminder that this whole fake dating thing was his idea made Emmett want to kick himself. He should have just asked him out instead of offering to be his fake boyfriend. Sometimes he was an idiot.
Grumpy with himself and unsure how to bring up his regret without making Jonah feel bad or obligated to date him to keep up the lie to feel safe, Emmett just nodded, sliding back to his seat and popping open the door. He met Jonah around the front, some of his bad mood melting away when Jonah reached for his hand.
“Uh, is this okay?” Jonah asked uncertainly. “I figured since we’re supposed to be in a relationship–”
“It’s fine. In fact, it’s now required. I’m pretty hands on with my partners. If you’re in a relationship with me, you’ll have to get used to that.”
From the way Jonah’s lips twisted to hide his smile, he wasn’t opposed, but he was considering another teasing response. Emmett cut him off with a lick to his lips, making Jonah gasp. He chuckled to himself, tugging their interlaced hands to get Jonah moving into the arcade.
For tonight, he was going to pretend this was a real date. They weren’t too far from Spellbound, and the arcade was popular, so if anyone from the office showed up, they’d see them together anyway. Might as well sell it. His choice in no way had anything to do with his attraction to the human. Nope. Not at all.
CHAPTER FIFTEEN
When Emmett had said arcade, Jonah had expected a small building with a few pinball machines and maybe some older games. He did not expect an entire warehouse-sized establishment stuffed to the brim with every kind of game imaginable. He got the feeling it would take them more than one night to get through even half the building. And was that–
“Is that an entire mini golf course?” he squawked.
Emmett grinned at his surprise and nodded. “Yep. They don’t call it a colosseum for nothing.”
The ‘arcade’, aptly named the Arcane Colosseum, wasn’t overly busy, thanks to it being a Monday evening. They barely had to wait in line for the wristbands they’d scan at each game. He’d been a little worried about the price, he didn't exactly have much in the way of cash, but Emmett paid for it with a swipe of his card before Jonah could even see the amount. He shot the werewolf an incredulous look and got a wink in response that made him blush.
“I’m the one who asked you on this date, I’m the one who’s paying for it. Now come on. My favorite game is this way.”
He dragged Jonah away without giving him a chance to reply, and eventually, Jonah let it go. He’d make it up to him when heeventually moved out and could afford to pay for more than the basics like gas and food.
Emmett’s favorite game, as it turned out, was something Jonah was familiar with. Who doesn't love skee ball?
“Have you ever played?” Emmett asked, his tail wagging with his excitement.
Jonah had to bite back a laugh, nodding. “Yeah, I know how to play.” Granted, it’d been a while, his siblings stopped wanting to hang out with him when he was sixteen, but he remembered how it went. “High score wins?”
“Aw, yeah. Get ready to lose.”
Shoving the giant werewolf playfully, he got into position, and they scanned their wrist bands together. It took a few tries to get the hang of it, but eventually muscle memory kicked back in and he only lost by a small margin. Didn’t stop Emmett from crowing like a rooster, and Jonah seriously considered pulling the man’s tail again just to get him to stop.
“Alright, alright. You won that round. It’s been a while for me. Best two out of three.”
It became abundantly obvious why skee ball was Emmett’s favorite game. The more he warmed up, the better his score. Jonah had no hope of beating him.
He laughed at Emmett’s victory dance, shaking his head with his arms crossed. “You’re a brat. I’m picking the next game. We’ll see who wins the most at the end of the night.”
“Oh, you’re on,” Emmett grinned.
He made up for his deficit in the pinball competition, but they were both pretty evenly matched at air hockey, and both were absolutely awful at the dancing game. They were too busy laughing at each other to actually pay attention to the screen.
About an hour into the night, Emmett started trying to distract him with little touches and brushes against him. It was totally working too, as Jonah became hyper aware of thewerewolf, and every heated glance that followed each touch. By the time they stopped to order some food, he was half hard and glad he’d untucked his shirt at one point to hide his growing erection.
Emmett leaned closer, sniffing him like he had several times that night already. Jonah shivered, gasping as the wily werewolf snuck in a little lick against Jonah’s heated skin.
