“You always do. I love you. You’re my fucking rock, you know that?” His voice was rough.

“I love you.” I kissed his temple.

For a long time, I just held him. Brennan was my everything.

“Shower and bed? Although we might get both of them in here with us. Unless we all sleep in Evan’s bed,” I said, thinking back to Evan mentioning that he’d like us to be together tonight.

“I mean, if they need us, they need us. But I can’t sleep in Evan’s room. The messiness exists too loudly.” Brennan finished his bourbon.

The messiness exists too loudly.Yeah, that was the man I loved.

We got in the shower, and he told me all about the concert.

“Caroline was there? Ugh, sorry.” I closed my eyes as he washed my hair.

“Whatever. I refuse to be annoyed by her anymore.”

“Good. I’m glad you had fun with Grace.” Warm water cascaded over me as he washed the soap out of it.

I told him about my time with Evan as we finished up in the shower and got ready for bed.

Brennan crawled into bed and got on his phone. I grabbed the book on my nightstand to read for a few moments.

“Grace doesn’t feel good, can we sleep with you?” Evan stood there with Grace in his arms.

“Sure. Can you get her a heating pad? That might help,” Brennan asked.

I got the battery powered one. When I came back, Evan was getting her into bed as Brennan made her take something.

“Here you go, Peaches.” I turned it on and tucked it in with her.

Grace felt warm and smelled weird. A little sick, a little rotten, a little too sweet.

Brennan got in on one side of her, Evan claimed the other, and I got on his other side. Frowning, Brennan texted someone, probably Wes and Spencer.

I shut off the light, snuggling Evan, wondering how long it would be before he dragged me off to his room.

Chapter Twenty-Six

Brennan

Asense of wrongness woke me in the middle of the night. I sat up and heard sobbing. Climbing out of bed, I realized who was missing.

Just as I entered the bathroom, Grace threw up in the toilet. She wiped her face with toilet paper and curled into a ball on the rug, crying. That weird smell from earlier filled the bathroom.

“Hey, it’s okay.” I sat down and pulled her onto my lap. “You’re burning up.”

“It hurts so bad,” she sobbed. “And the worse thing is that I want to be fucked. I hate it when I’m like this.”

“Grace? Grace, what’s wrong?” Evan stood in the doorway, worry on his face.

“She’s sick. I think we need to take her to the Center clinic.” This was most likely an issue for them, not the hospital. I cradled her in my arms as she sobbed. I could practically taste her pain.

“Shit.” Grace bolted out of my arms and threw up again.

I got a thermometer and some anti-nausea medication out of the medicine cabinet.

“Here, rinse out your mouth.” Evan put an arm around her and helped her sip some water. “It’s okay.”
