Kivani smiled against his mate’s skin, relief and joy and possessive satisfaction mixing until he couldn’t separate them. “You’re amazing. Trusting me with something so permanent.”
“I trust you with everything.” Dakota’s hand moved from the bite mark to Kivani’s face, cupping his jaw. “I love you. I should have said it before, but I’m saying it now. I love you.”
The words hit Kivani square in the ribs, making his throat tight. His tiger purred approval, pleased beyond measure, and Kivani had to blink against the sudden moisture in his eyes. Three hundred years he’d waited to hear those words from his mate. Three hundred years of searching, of hoping, of wondering if he’d ever find the person meant to complete him.
“I love you too.” Kivani’s voice came out rough, thick with emotion he didn’t try to hide. “Have loved you since you tripped over nothing and spilled coffee all over me. Will love you for the rest of our very long lives together.”
Dakota’s laugh was wet, happy, the sound of someone who'd found exactly where they belonged. “That’s a long time.”
“Not nearly long enough.” Kivani pulled out carefully, making Dakota hiss at the sensitivity. He rolled them onto their sides, pulling his mate against him so they were pressed together from shoulder to hip. “But we’ll make the most of every second.”
No matter how much time he had with Dakota it would never be enough.
