EIGHTEEN

Blaise

“I don’t bloody get it.” I rubbed my temples as we sat around the kitchen table in the manor.

Glasses filled to the brim with blood were positioned on the table in front of us untouched. The simplest tasks, like drinking blood, weren't the same without Lilith.

It was brilliant being out of Hell, but being in the manor made me miss her even more. When she was a freshly turned vampire and was learning her new way of life, she was so bloody determined. Her emotions were out of whack the majority of the time, and she was stubborn, but I missed sparring with her in the basement.

When we got her back, I’d make sure we made time to spar. I could only hope what I’d taught her about hand-to-hand combat was coming in handy if she didn’t have her powers.

My jaw tightened, and my fist smacked down on the table, making the blood slosh in the glasses.

Thaddeus scowled at my fist, and I moved it from the table in a huff.

Kai cleared his throat, glancing in between us. “Lilith was made by King Zelek as a regular demon, right?”

Aziel nodded. “Right.”

“So, why does she have more powers than the demons she makes, or even you?” he asked. “I mean, you were both created by King Zelek.”

“And why didn’t he just make a new Lilith when she was killed?” Thaddeus asked, grabbing his glass and taking a gulp.

Aziel picked at the wooden table as his cheek squished up from resting on his fist. It was the first time he’d sat down for more than ten minutes since she’d been taken. “Lilith was made during a celestial event that gave her soul more access to ancient magic and made her life essence infinite. Zelek was only able to make one of her. Her soul was created more from celestial power than from Zelek’s power.”

“What celestial event?” Kai asked, leaning forward on his forearms, scooting his glass of blood over with his elbow as he gave Aziel undivided attention.

“I think I can answer that!” A tiny, squeaky voice spoke from the center of the table.

I blinked as a pixie faded into the living realm, lounging with her elbows propped up behind her as she grinned at us. Her legs were crossed as the top one bounced up and down.

“Are you the pervy pixie?” Thaddeus asked, rubbing his forehead.

“Pervy what?” I arched a brow as the pixie winked at me.

Lilith would lose her shit if she saw her do that.

“The pixie who introduced herself to Lilith last time we were here. Apparently, she’s been watching us…”

“Fuck,” the pixie answered sweetly. “I’ve been watching you each give Lilith intense pleasure.”

I grabbed my glass and took a few gulps, letting the thick rusty taste roll over my tongue before setting it back down. “Great.”

I’d missed Lilith’s presence so much I hadn’t thought much of the lack of sex without her, but fuck, I missed being with her.

“What do you know about the celestial event?” Kai asked, his voice sounding a bit strained.

“Considering I’m from the spirit realm, a lot.” She smirked, her yellow wings fluttering wildly as she floated up into the air to hover over the table. “The celestial event that helped create the mother of demons was called the Hell Eclipse. A one-time event predicted by the seers.”

“What’s a Hell Eclipse?” Thaddeus asked.

“The moon in the living realm, spirit realm, and all the moons in Heaven bled the blood of the damned for an entire hour. It pulled the power from Hell, leaving it vulnerable.”

“Like the blood that runs through the walls of Hell?”

She nodded. “Exactly. It no longer pumped through Hell to keep it alive.”

“What’s that have to do with creating Lilith though?”
