“Oh, yeah. Apparently Queen Astral was so proud of him for bringing Lilith to Heaven, she promoted him back to archangel status.”
The air around us became stagnant, and Aziel let out a loud bellow before plowing his fist into the clay below us. His fist sank a good foot into the ground, and we stepped back.
“The archangel you captured lied,” I stated what everyone was thinking.
“No bloody way.” Blaise’s face blanched. “I searched his thoughts…”
“And I didn’t feel anything off about him,” Kai said as he shoved his fingers through his hair.
“Well, obviously losing your power boost has made you all fucking useless.” Aziel snarled at us as he yanked his arm from the ground.
“They didn’t know.” Titan stepped in between us. “You really think they’d do anything to jeopardize seeing Lilith again?”
Aziel’s black eyes seemed to darken another shade before he gave a jerk to his head to indicate no. “But they haven’t lost her like I have.”
Kai stood up and with small steps, he walked toward Aziel to place a hand on his shoulder. “Mate, I’m sorry. We don’t know what you’ve been through, but we all love Lilith.”
Aziel’s jaw tightened. “I know that.”
“Tell us what to do,” Blaise said, closing in to place a hand on his other shoulder. “We’ll back you the whole way.”
I stepped closer. “If you know a better way to get to Heaven and save our love, tell us.”
The muscles in Aziel’s face relaxed a bit before he nodded.
We’re coming to find you, love. Hold on just a little longer.
