“Same.” He leans against the counter right next to me, ignoringGraydon completely. “I really like it when they have something inside. Like a plain croissant is not my jam, but stick some chocolate in there, and I’m game.”

“Same. I really like a sugary fruit mixture or an almond croissant.”

“Oh shit.” OC grips my shoulder. “The ones with that almond paste in the middle? Those are so fucking good.”

Graydon appears out of nowhere and removes OC’s hand from my shoulder, nearly butting chests with him. “Don’t touch her.”

“Du-uh, I mean, Graydon, it’s not like I was hitting on her.”

“I don’t care. She’s not yours to touch.”

“Graydon,” I quietly warn, but he just turns to me, presses a kiss to my lips, then goes back to his protein shake.

OC glances back at him and then at me. “A little possessive, huh?”

“I don’t think you should say that in front of him,” I whisper. “He might hurt you.”

“You think so?”

“I think so.” I nod.

“I don’t know. I think he likes to act tough around me, but I’m not sure he would actually hurt me.”

“I would hurt you,” Graydon says and pops his bottle open to take down some of his shake.

And I believe it. I don’t think Graydon would care who took the impact of his fist if it was because they were messing with me. He wouldn’t put up with it.

“Maybe if you ate more pastries, you wouldn’t be so hostile.”

“But then he wouldn’t have those abs,” I say with a sigh, staring at him.

“Not true.” OC takes that moment to lift his hoodie and flash me his stomach. “A pastry a day didn’t take these abs away.”

I glance over at his stomach and…oh my God, he’s…he’s right.

“Put your fucking sweatshirt down,” Graydon growls, causing OC to cover himself up quickly.

“Please, there’s no way she’s going to have eyes for anyone but you,” OC says, taking me in. “Girl is infatuated.”

I feel my cheeks flush as my gaze falls on Graydon’s. His eyes darken, his jaw clenching as his lips roll together. My heart nearly explodes in my chest from that one look, a look full of sin and promises I know he can keep.

“Jesus,” OC says, tugging on the collar of his hoodie. “The temperature in this room just skyrocketed. No wonder you did it six times last night and this morning.”

Graydon turns toward him, a furious look on his face. “You counted?”

OC shrugs. “After the third time, I was truly invested in what kind of record you were planning on setting. Got to say, man, your stamina is remarkable.”

“It was,” I say as I take a sip of my orange juice. “Then again, Graydon is quite a remarkable man.”

The smallest smile lights up his handsome face as he walks over to me again, grips my neck possessively, and brings his mouth to mine. “Don’t forget it, beautiful.”

Things at work are…awkward, to say the least.

After a long debate about who would take me to work, OC won out because he said he was better than a stranger in an Uber. Graydon argued, but I said goodbye to my man and hitched a ride with OC.

Graydon told me that my car should be ready anytime now. They’re just finishing up the paint job. It will be nice to have my car back so I won’t have to rely on anyone for a ride anymore.

But now that I’m here and all of the early chores are done, we have some downtime, and Hank is doing everything he can to avoid me. I don’t blame him, though. Things have gotten uncomfortable, and he doesn’t believe in the relationship I have with Graydon. Not that I need him tobelieve, but it would be nice if I didn’t have to stand next to him, knowing he’s judging me.
