He smirks. “No one is as fun as you.”
“Mmm… he avoids the question.”
He pushes my wet hair back off of my face. “This is the only variation of you I want. The past is irrelevant. Loving you in this life and sharing our future is all that matters to me.”
“There’s nothing you would change.”
“Nothing,” he confirms while looking at me.
“Not even the cat.”
“Not even him.”
“What about my smart mouth?” I ask, and he shakes his head.
“I like filling that smart mouth.” His thumb trails down my bottom lip before leaning in and kissing me.
“Not even my penchant for violence?”
“I quite like that part. As I told you before, my darkness calls to yours.”
I kiss him back. The water cools down my skin, but his touch heats it right back up. I wonder if this feeling will ever get old; how all-consuming it feels to be loved by such a powerful man, one that only laughs and smiles for me. Who loves my smart mouth and the way I push him to try new things. A part of me knows that even though we have eternity, a connection like this will never be stagnant.
Lucifer—the Devil—is my soulmate, and I don’t care what anyone thinks about that. I don’t care if it makes me evil or a monster. Something this pure and cosmic could never be wrong.
Our lips part, and he looks at me softly. “What else are we supposed to do on this honeymoon?”
“Eat delicious food, drink wine, dance, swim, relax, whatever we want.”
“What about tying you up to the bedframe and making you come so many times that you beg me to stop.”
My breath hitches, and I nod. “Yeah, we can do that.”
“Perhaps later,” he says with that smirk on his lips.
I splash his chest, letting go of my hold on him as I swim away. He starts swimming after me, and I shriek as I try to swim as fast as possible. With him being so much taller, he catches me quickly. His long arms wrap around my stomach as he kisses the side of my head.
“What does my little Hellfire want?”
“Just this,” I say, squeezing his arms. This is truly all I want, and for the first time since I can remember, I feel truly happy. I’m finally my true self, and not only that, I’m loved by a man who accepts and loves me for who exactly I am. The path here wasn’t easy and was covered in bloodshed, but I’m finally who I’m supposed to be, and I’m with the man who was always meant to be mine. A man who would burn the universe for me, as I would for him.
It might have taken dying and losing everything I thought mattered to me to get this perspective, but I’m happy for it.
“I think I’m ready to tie you up now.”
“Oh, are you now?” I reply, like I’m not totally excited to be tied up.
“Be my good girl, and I won’t make you wait for your first orgasm.”
“How chivalrous.”
“I thought so,” he jokes back, and I spin in his arms, cupping his face, kissing his lips as he carries me out of the water and drops my wet body on the bed. “Fuck, you’re beautiful.”
His kisses trail up my leg, and I can’t help the shiver that overtakes me. His shadows come out to play as he ties my wrists, and the rest of me, to the bed.
“Are you going to be good?” he asks.
I smile with a nod. “Yes, sir.”
He groans and does as he promises, worshiping me like the good lord intended.
