I smiled. “I can’t wait.”

“The four of you have the rest of today and the weekend off,” Matt said. “Take advantage of it.” He turned to me and Jaxon. “I’ll see you both on Sunday for dinner.”

“You’re not coming out with us tonight?” I asked.

“I got somewhere to be,” he said evasively, before pulling me in for a hug. “Really proud of you, little sister. You’ve worked your ass off for this and I seriously hired the best person for the job.”

“Thanks.”

“Okay, let’s go before he changes his mind,” Jaxon said, taking my hand and kissing my palm. “I’m taking Agent Quinn home for a few hours. Text us where to meet you.”

I blushed. I knew exactly what was going to happen in the next few hours and I couldn’t wait to get him naked.

As he walked me down to his SUV, I thought about how rich my life had become. I had two sisters I rarely got to see, but the sadness was soothed by the sisters who’d made me feel like part of their family from the get-go. And when Lyric and Melody made a rare visit to the west coast, those same women welcomed them in and treated them just like they did the rest of their family. I watched Melody in fascination as she let that unconditional love wash over her and chill her the fuck out. She became human again. She became my DiDi again. It was beautiful.

“I’m gonna insist you wear that badge,” Jaxon warned as he started the car.

“When?”

“When you’re naked.”

I laughed. “Oh, so we’re getting freaky, then?”

“Hell, yeah we are. I’m gonna fuck you like an Eff Bee Eye agent.”

“Okay, Johnny Utah. Take it down a notch.”

“Do I need to pick up tequila on the way home?”

“Oh, no, baby, I’m ready for freaky. You just better be able to keep up with me. You know I did better than you did on your specialist’s exams.”

He chuckled. “Yeah you did. And the marksman’s drills.”

“Oh, yeah, I forgot about that one.”

“No you didn’t.”

I bit my lip. “No I didn’t, you’re right. I just didn’t want to gloat.”

“Well go ahead and gloat...while your mouth is wrapped around my dick.”

“Okay.” I shivered. “Hurry, honey, I need you to make that happen, pronto.”

Jaxon grinned and disobeyed a few speed laws to make that happen.

As I stripped down to nothing but my new, shiny badge, I sent up a little prayer of thanks to the universe. I’d found my happy and I planned to keep it for eternity.
