I kiss her. Deep enough that she forgets what she was reading. Her fingers slide into my hair. I wrap my arms around her waist and hold her close, like I might have to ride through fire all over again to keep her.

But I won’t.

I already did that.

Now? Now I get to love her in the quiet.

“I love you,” I murmur against her lips. “Always.”

She pulls back just far enough to look me in the eye. “I know. I love you too. Even when you burn the cookies.”

“That was one time.”

“Three.”

“Still ate ’em, didn’t you?”

She grins. “You’re lucky you’re hot.”

I growl, flipping her onto the couch and settling over her, my hands already sliding up the soft skin of her thighs.

“Damn right I am,” I murmur. “And you’re about to be luckier.”

She gasps as I nip at her neck, her laughter turning to breathless sighs. I kiss my way down her chest, over her belly, pressing a reverent kiss just below her navel.

“I’m gonna give you everything,” I whisper. “You, me, a kid with your eyes and my attitude. It’s all happening, Sage. All of it.”

She threads her fingers through my hair. “I know.”

And she does.

Because I’m not the kind of man who makes promises lightly.

I keep them.

Always.

Especially to the woman who gave me more than love.

She gave me a reason to live like I was never built for war in the first place.

She gave me home.
