Another Christmas came and lately, I was falling asleep as soon as we started cuddling on the couch after dinner.

Then the nausea hit me.

I could barely brush my teeth in the morning without gagging, and after checking my period app, I discovered my period was late. By a couple of weeks. How didn’t I notice?

Maybe all the hot sex you constantly had.

“Garner!” I called from the bathroom, hugging the toilet.

“Oh no, Mags. What’s wrong? Stomach bug?”

“I need you to run to the pharmacy and get me a pregnancy test.”

“A pregnancy test?” He exclaimed, his eyes wide.

“Yes. My period is late and I don’t feel good.”

“Holy shit. Okay. Oh my God. Is this really happening?”

“Yes, baby. Deep breaths.”

“Shit. You’re the one sick. What am I doing?” Garner opened the cabinet and grabbed a washcloth. He turned on the sink and dampened the cloth, ringing out the excess water. Then he placed it on my forehead. “I’ll go right now.”

Twenty minutes later, he delivered the test to me in the bathroom. He had already unwrapped it, ready for use. “Want me to wait in the bedroom?”

I shook my head as I pulled myself to a stand. I pulled my pants down and sat down on the toilet, clutching the test in one hand as I peed on the tip. I capped it and placed it down on the counter, finishing up and washing my hands.

Garner embraced me in a hug, and I rested my head against his chest with my eyes closed, another wave of nausea overtaking my senses. I breathed in and out slowly as it subsided.

After what felt like hours, I whispered, “Okay, it’s time to check.”

“Do you want me to look first? Or do you?”

“Let’s look together.” I reached over and picked up the test, turning the screen face down. I held in front of us and counted. “One, two, three.”

I flipped the test over and we both gasped.

The wordpregnantclearly displayed on the screen.

“Mags!” Garner cried.

“We’re pregnant.” I burst into sobs.

After a long wait, one worth every second, our family was growing.
