Mia lay on her stomach, wrapped in blankets like a burrito. Her face was half buried in the pillow as she stared intensely at the chapter she’d just opened.

Across the top of the screen was the title:

‘The CEO and His Handsome Secretary’

She was quietly reading, the soft glow of her phone lighting her face. Her lips were slightly parted in concentration, her brows gently pinched as her eyes traced each word—

‘Mr. Graves stepped closer to the trembling man. “You’re my secretary, Allen. Your job is to serve me. So serve me properly,” he said, placing a hand over Allen’s head, forcing him to his knees. Then he unzipped his pants and pulled out his—’

A shadow suddenly fell on her.

Before she could even inhale, a tall figure appeared inches in front of her.

Mia gasped, the phone slipping in her hand, and she scrambled back against the headboard. Her heart lurched when she recognized the familiar pair of sharp, immaculate, tailored pants right in front of her.

Alexander stepped closer to the bed, watching her every movement.

Her heartbeat thudded so hard it almost echoed in her ears. She hadn’t heard the door. Hadn’t felt the air shift. He was just—there, all of a sudden.

The moment she tried to retreat further, he climbed onto the mattress after her. The bed dipped under his weight.

Her breath caught.

He advanced immediately, following her retreat with silent, predatory precision. His knees sank into the mattress on either side of her legs, closing her in like a trap. His presence engulfed the air—warm, overwhelming, and suffocating in the most intense way.

He looked down at her with heavy eyes that burned.

“What were you doing?” he asked softly, the low timbre of his voice brushing over her skin.

Mia’s fingers flew behind her automatically, shoving the phone under the bedsheet. Her shoulders stiffened, and her lashes fluttered anxiously.

“Nothing—I was just… nothing at all,” she stammered, her voice small.

Alexander leaned in even closer. The space between them felt heavy, charged.

His hand lifted, moving slowly from her cheek down the curve of her neck. His touch was warm, sending shivers running down her spine. His thumb brushed the pulse point on her throat, lingering on the frantic beat.

Then his hand drifted lower—over her shoulder, along her arm, tracing the delicate skin of her inner wrist. Soft. Slow. Possessive.

Her breath caught, her fingers curling into the sheets. She felt exposed under his gaze, every inch of her reacting.

His hand slid to her waist, then down toward her hip, and before she had time to understand what he was reaching for, his arm moved behind her.

In one swift, decisive motion, he pulled the phone from her grip.

“Mr. Graves—you can’t—You can’t do that!” Mia burst out, leaning forward in panic. Her hands scrambled to block his view. “That’s my privacy!”

But he had already tilted the phone up.

His eyes scanned the screen once. Twice. And then his expression changed.

A cold thread of tension slid through the room.

He looked at her again, jaw tightening, eyes burning into hers. He simply tossed the phone behind him on the bed and looked back at her with an expression that made her breath halt.

Mia’s cheeks burned, her face so hot she could feel it in her ears. She tried to smile, weakly, nervously. “Mr. Graves, I told you… right? I’m still very young. I’m still learning about the world… and my… m-mistakes?” she whispered, sounding both scared and innocent.
