I nodded. and we stood from the bench, walking hand-in-hand down the path around the lake and up the sidewalk to our building. We had the closest building to the lake and it was our private fortress. Armed guards, layers of security, and cameras everywhere.
The ride up to the top floor was over in a flash and as we walked into the apartment, Devlin spun me to face him, wrapped his arms around my waist, and pulled me in for a bruising kiss. He pulled back and his feral eyes looked down at me as a smirk pushed up on his lips.
“I need you, Lamb,” he said, licking his lips.
All I could do was nod as I felt my core clench and my insides quiver. He gripped my wrist and practically dragged me across the apartment. We didn’t have much time before the boys were here, and I knew he would want every minute of alone time.
We had an unconventional life, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Devlin was my protector, my savior, and the man I couldn’t live without.
To some, he was feared.
To others, he was revered.
To the world, he was respected, and to the criminal elements, he was the madman.
But to me, he was my everything, and I couldn’t imagine what my life would be like without him.
If anyone tried to separate us again, they would see the madness I was capable of. And no one wanted to see that.
