Stron joins us, and I introduce him. My parents, still overcome with emotion, immediately hug and thank him. I can see he’s not certain what to do with all the affection. It’s not something that he’s used to. Taking pity on him, I introduce them to Kyra. As soon as she sees her, my mother bursts into another flood of tears. I thought she was never going to stop crying.
Our reunion is emotional.
It’s messy.
It’s family.
It’s a small taster for Stron of what we are building for our mates on Malimoor.
***
We spent two weeks with my family, catching up and showing Stron all my childhood haunts and where I used to go to hide from Tri when she was on a rampage. The fields I planted. Fields not dissimilar to the ones that Suki and I were cultivating back on Malimoor.
I think Stron was worried that I’d want to stay, and while there was nothing better than being in the bosom of your family, even with all their quirks that annoy you, this wasn’t my home anymore.
Malimoor was my home.
With the sisters of my heart, their mates, and now their children. That was where I knew I was meant to live. That was my home. I wouldn’t be happy anywhere else.
Well, that’s not strictly true because I could be happy anywhere as long as Stron was with me. Anywhere he was… that’s where I was happiest.
The day he’d swept me off my feet was the best day of my life, and I hoped we’d have many more of those.
He was everything to me and always would be.
