“Calita is the other half of my soul,” Simon told her father, his voice earnest, conveying the truth of his words.

Brian gave a worried look towards the house. “Well, we’ll see what’s what. Let’s get the luggage out, shall we?”

Simon nodded, knowing that’s all he could expect from a man that had watched his daughter go through hell and come out the other side. They carried the luggage in. Simon guided him to the downstairs guest bedroom that her parents would be using. Calita and Janet were cooing over the antique furniture. He could only stare in wonder as he watched his mate brag to her parents about him preserving his family history.

Her mother gave him a pleased look. “A man who appreciates where he comes from. I like it.”

He dropped their luggage just inside the door. “I’ll let you guys get settled, and then I’d love to take you on a tour of the town?”

“We’d love that,” Brian agreed.

Calita gave them a hug and then followed Simon from the room. They ended up in the living room on the sofa, facing his big screen TV.

“I think they like you,” she said, bumping his shoulder with her own.

“They gave me you, I’ll love them.”

She smiled and pulled his head down for a kiss. “I love you so much,” she whispered into his mouth.

“I’ll love you forever,” was his reply.

He kissed her, so happy she was in his life.
