“No.” My benevolence isn’t to make friends. It’s because I don’t need the satisfaction of money. I only need one thing—Sula’s love.

And I have it.

My wife is giggling. “I know he’s shocked you, Angie, but I have to go if you want me to call Brendan. Give everyone my love.”

“Will do. Call me back.” Angie disconnects.

Sula immediately places a call to her brother, who whoops so loudly I can hear it through the phone. I chuckle at Brendan’s exuberance. After he agrees to contact his neighbors—the members of Small Town Nights—and haul them in with him from Nashville to New York, she hangs up and places the phone aside.

“Do you want to hop on a flight to head home?”

She gives me a look like I’ve lost my mind before reaffirming that with, “Are you crazy?”

I cup my hands over her ass before ticking off my reasons. “Your brother’s performing. Small Town Nights is coming out of semi-retirement. Becks and Paige had their baby. I wasn’t sure if you changed your mind about disconnecting from the world.”

She scores her nails up my chest. “I’m exactly where I want to be, with who I want to be with, Arek. Never doubt that.”

Pulling her flush against me, I reward her for that comment by not talking for the next hour. Instead, the warm island air is rent with our moans as we take turns driving each other wild.

It’s a little less than a week later when Sula’s phone rings again.

We’ve been stargazing out on the balcony since we’re too wired to fall asleep. Another falling star just trailed past us when she answers, “Hello?” Her body locks before she says, “Sure. Hold on.” She pushes a button and says, “Okay, we’re on speaker, Carys. Go ahead.”

Carys’s voice comes over the line. “For some people, having money—any amount—turned them into Midas—greedy. Wanting more gold than they knew what to do with.”

Sula and I exchange looks of confusion before I venture, “Then they obviously don’t know what’s truly important.”

“When I realized you appreciated that, Arek, is when I started liking you.” She swallows hard. “One hour.”

“One hour what, Carys?” Sula questions.

“Please hold what I’m about to tell you for one hour at the request of Beckett and Paige before posting this on StellaNova.”

My spine tingles. “What is it?”

“York Miles Miller. He’s absolutely beautiful. I’ll send you photos, but those can’t be shared.”

“Carys...” I want to reassure her I’ll keep my word, but she doesn’t need it.

She’s already hung up.

“York Miles Miller,” Sula breathes. Tears are glowing in her eyes beneath the moonlight.

“There’s got to be a story there.”

“Of course there is.” Her phone buzzes in her hand. Then her eyes grow enormous as she stares at what’s on the screen. “It’s a good thing you have your news to break.”

“Why?”

She flips the phone my way, and I see a photo reminiscent of one of us taken in Vegas the day we got married.

Only, it’s of Austyn Kensington and her bodyguard.

“Who sent that to you?” I probe delicately.

She hands me her phone before shaking her head and admitting, “I don’t know. The number’s blocked.”
