He nodded, “That is serious. Do you like it?”
Gia nodded once more, “I do.”
Then she smiled, “I get to color too.”
Vincenzo nodded, hugging her, “Go play.”
After Vincenzo Junior was born, they had another boy, Giuseppe, and their little Gia.
She was the light of their life, and the boys adored her.
Gio and Elena had kids right along with them, as did Elio and Jenna.
All of them lived close and Vincenzo liked the fact that they had close families.
He still hadn’t made the Salvatore family bigger with marriage. He told his mother they could expand in other ways.
And they had. They gained new soldiers and other people in that way since Vincenzo was different than the other dons.
And they had done well for themselves. Vincenzo was proud of all he and Harper had done.
He lifted her to her feet, and looked at the tree, with the presents under it, “It’s almost time. Did you get everything?”
She nodded, “I’m ready. It helped that Lucia took Gia for the day. I took Aldo with me, and we got the rest of it. And then Aldo helped me wrap presents.”
Vincenzo laughed, “I didn’t know that was one of his skills.”
Harper smiled, “Oh, it absolutely is.”
Vincenzo smiled, “I’m glad. Can I unwrap my present now?”
Harper looked around, “The kids could come in any minute.”
Vincenzo pulled her to another room, shutting the door, “We will be quick.”
Even after all these years, he still wanted her with a fierceness that surprised him.
She was everything to him and he wouldn’t take it for granted. Not now, not ever.
His perfect Christmas gift.
