“We should probably find a real babysitter soon,” I mused.

“Maybe,” Ethan shrugged. “But I pay her well and she’s a friend.”

Getting Naomi’s attention again, he pointed exaggeratedly at me, then himself, then motioned to his car, then pretended to eat.

She laughed, then rolled her eyes and waved us off.

“There you go,” Ethan grinned. “She said yes.”

I laughed.

“How is everything so easy for you?”

He pulled me toward the car smiling.

“I don’t know, but I appreciate it. Every day.”

Sitting in the driver’s seat, he took my hand in his. Our gazes met.

“Thank you for going on this journey with me, for not pushing me away. I’ve never been so happy.”

I squeezed his hand.

“I feel the exact same way.”
