THE MOMENT AFTER I TOLD YOU I LOVED YOU
THE MOMENT I SHOWED UP AT YOUR HOLIDAY PARTY (LOOKING HAWT)
THE MOMENT YOU PROPOSED TO ME
THE MOMENT WE BECAME HUSBAND AND WIFE
Then the screen went dark for a few moments, making Evan think the video was over.
“Honey that was so sweet, what’s the occ—”
THE MOMENT BEFORE YOUR LIFE CHANGED FOREVER
The video I had taken minutes before, showing Evan eyeing me as I recorded him from the kitchen started to play on the TV.
Evan looked visibly confused. Poor thing wants to act like he knows what’s going on, but he’s clearly drawing a blank.
“Husband, can you please look for something between the couch cushion beside you?” I ask as my voice cracks and tears start to well in my eyes.
Evan instantly looks concerned, but does as I say.
When he pulls out the positive pregnancy test, it takes him a second to register what I just pulled off.
And with perfect timing, the video screen shows a final picture of a sonogram taken today, of a tiny baby the size of a rice grain.
Under the sonogram aHi Daddy!is spelled out.
Now tears are fully flowing from my eyes, to the point where I didn’t see Evan shoot up from his position on the couch and charge towards me.
He holds onto my arms, seemingly to steady himself, rather than me.
“You— you’re pregnant? We’re having a … baby?” Evan croaks.
I bite my bottom lip and nod incessantly until I feel my feet lift off the ground and Evan spinning me in his arms.
“WE’RE HAVING A BABY!!!” Evan shouts as he parades me around the living room as if we’ve just won the Super Bowl. “Oh crap. I need to put you down. Are you okay? Is the baby okay? When did you find out—”
I’m not sure if I’m sobbing or laughing. I can already tell that these pregnancy hormones are gonna be a doozy, but I stop Evan from his barrage of questions by pulling him in for a kiss. “Baby and I are perfect. It’s still early so we need to be cautious, and I peed on a stick yesterday and was able to have Lucy book me a last minute appointment with her husband Bill to run a blood test this morning and have a sonogram taken two hours ago. Perks of having doctors in the family.” I wink.
Evan lets out a deep breath, then pulls me closer. “So we finally made it. We’re living the crazy life we’ve always dreamed of huh.”
I lean back to look at him, and a cheeky grin spreads across my face. “You know what this means right?
Evan cocks his head. “Um, we’re going to be parents?” He chuckles.
I giggle before I say, “After all this time, we’re finally gonna get to play thatdaddygame Mr. Cooper.”
Our house is filled with laughter and tears as we continue to hold one another. Basking in the joy of living out one of the best parts of all rom coms.
The ‘And they lived happily ever after’part.
The End
