“What can I say? You know I love birthdays,” I singsong.

When Enzo finally gets to me, he shakes his head and laughs our surprise off as he mutters, “I should have known something was up. You look way too good for just a night out with the kids.”

Since his family swooped the babies up as soon as we arrived, I reach out to hug him. “Happy Birthday, Enzo. I love you.”

“I love you more, beautiful,” he growls into my ear. “I can’t wait to get you home tonight.” He plants a kiss on me in front of everyone.

“About that…” I whisper.

He cocks an eyebrow at me. “Yes?”

“We’re not going home tonight.”

“Where would we be going?”

I shrug as if it’s not a big deal. “Well, since your parents offered to takeallof the kids tonight, I thought we’d go to a hotel where you can open my other present.”

His eyes darken with desire. “What kind of present are we talking about?” comes out gruff and filled with need.

“The kind you can only open in front of me. Let’s get through dinner and then you’ll get to see.”

“Are you sure we have to wait? No one will miss us if we sneak out the back door.”

“Enzo…” I nudge him. “Yes, they will. You’re the guest of honor.”

“Look over there.” He points to his mother showing off Raine and then to his brother showing off Loren. “No one will miss us.”

In the sexiest voice I can muster, I show him my final card. “If you stay through dinner and don’t complain, I promise to make this one of your most memorable birthdays. I’ve plenty of surprises for you and it’ll be well worth your while.”

He pulls me to him and I feel the result of the promise I just made. He’s silent for a moment as he holds me close to him. As I look him in the eye, the sexiest dimple known to mankind makes its appearance. Then he growls in the sexiest voice, making my panties wet with desire, “You’ve just made this the Best. Birthday. Ever!”
