The kiss was short, and when the couple broke apart, they gazed lovingly into each other’s eyes.

“Apology accepted,” he whispered, his eyes boring into hers.

“Kissing in the daytime,” she murmured. “Oh, Henry, you’ve definitely shed your skin as a proper gentleman.”

“I wanted to kiss my wife,” the Duke said, savoring the words. “Wife-to-be, but it all means the same to me. Besides, let us just say that I’m picking up a few things from you on how to live.”

“I never thought I would see the day.” Deborah smiled coyly.

“I believe it is going to be this way for the rest of our lives. You teach me things you know, and I teach you those that I do. Never a dull moment together.”

“My love…” Deborah blushed. “I agree. Never a dull moment when I am with you.”

The two stared into each other’s eyes for a long moment. When they were together, it was as though the entire world faded away in the background.

As Deborah’s face broke into a smile, she realized that this was her happy place. And now, they would get to be together for the rest of their days.
