“Absolutely.” She ran a hand down the white dress that flowed over her hips and stopped just above her ankles. It fit perfectly and was elegant without being extravagant. Her hair hung around her shoulders, curled just enough to give it some bounce. Her shoes, flat Mary Janes, matched her dress yet were comfortable to wear.

When Jace asked her what kind of wedding she wanted, she’d had one word for him: Simple.

She and Wyatt approached the doors that led to the church’s worship hall where the pastor, Jace, and the rest of the wedding party waited for them.

Wyatt leaned in close. “No regrets on the small wedding?”

“Not even one.” The thought of trying to organize a wedding that suited her parents as well as Jace’s sounded like a nightmare. This was the closest thing to eloping that they dared to do, and she was glad she’d made the decision.

They’d have a big reception in a few days where all of their family and friends could attend.

For now, she wanted to be married in the presence of the people they were closest to.

Wyatt pushed the doors open and led Bonnie through them.

She looked past the empty seats to Jace at the other end. He stood next to the pastor with little Gunner in his arms while Gran, Chrissy, and Noel waited for her on the other side.

The pastor motioned them forward.

Jace set Gunner down and Noel moved to take the boy’s hand.

With each step, Bonnie’s gaze stayed with Jace’s. His smile expressed his wonder as she approached. Wyatt kissed her on the cheek and then moved her hand from his arm to Jace’s.

“You look absolutely beautiful,” Jace whispered.

Dressed in black slacks and a white button-down shirt, Jace looked amazing himself. She blushed as they turned to face the pastor.

Bonnie soaked the moment in as he began the ceremony. As they said their vows, she knew that no matter what came their way, they’d be able to face it together.

When it was time for the rings, Jace turned to Gunner, who handed him a box with Noel’s help. “Thanks, buddy,” he said as he withdrew the rings.

Once both were nestled on their fingers, they turned to face each other as the pastor said, “I now declare you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.”

Jace wasted no time in taking her into his arms and kissing her until their friends and family started to giggle and clap.

When their kiss broke, Bonnie smiled up at her new husband. “I hope it’s always like this, and that we never argue again.”

Jace chuckled. “I hope so, too. If we do, I’ll bet making up is going to be a whole lot more fun.” He winked and kissed her again as her cheeks warmed.

Bonnie sighed with contentment. She’d rather argue and make up with Jace than get along with anyone else.
