As the bandtook the stage and hit its first notes, Reid looked at me. “I suppose I have you to thank for that?”

I blinked at him. “Why does everyone always suspect little ole me?” But I grinned. “But I told you that I’d help you with your campaign. I didn’t say who I’d influence to help.”

Reid threw his head back and laughed. “I love you, Bristol. Turns out, the most reckless thing I’ve ever done was the absolute best decision I’ve ever made.”

“Why, Deputy, I could’ve told you that.” And I confirmed my declaration with a kiss, which was enthusiastically returned.

“Let’s go home,” I suggested.

“Whose?”

“Either. As long as the three of us are together, it’s home.”
