“Dad, you still liking your online classes?” Jameson asks with his back to us since he’s flipping more burgers. We have so much food inside, we probably won’t need them, but then again, these three alone could eat a horse.

“Yeah, they’re good so far. Some of the things they’re teaching seem silly, but there’s a lot of good information in there, too.”

Jameson nods. “That’s good. What about volunteering?”

“I love it,” Delaney says.

I add, “You should hear him when he gets home from the center. He doesn’t shut up. You ask him one teeny tiny question, and he goes on and on for hours.”

A pinch to my side makes me yelp, then laugh as Delaney shakes his head at me and mutters, “Brat.”

I laugh, and glancing at his sons to be sure they’re not paying attention—they’re not—then I lean up on my toes and press my mouth firmly against his as I whisper, “You know I love hearing all your stories.”

“Mhm.”

With a grin, I plant another kiss, saying, “I love you, Delaney.”

“I love you, too, Freckles.” His eyes are bright with affection, his love shining through brightly.

In that moment, I really don’t know how I ended up so lucky to have this man in my life. But I know one thing, there’s no way in hell I’m ever giving him up.

When the four of us head inside and I see all of these people in our home, happy and getting on together, I know Delaney was right. All of them are family, and I’m not giving them up, either.
