“What about my tail?”

“I saw it.” Poe’s mind was blank as Hakko tickled the edge of his balls while his thumb played with his ass. The two sensations caused Poe to pull away and press down at the same time.

“Yeah? Did you want to play with my tail?” Hakko licked the corner of Poe’s mouth as he continued to drive Poe mad. The fingers of his other hand curled around Poe’s cock and stroked it while Poe focused on Hakko’s tail.

“I don’t know!” Poe gasped as he fucked hard into Hakko’s hand. The tip of Hakko’s thumb pressed past the initial muscle, and it sent Poe flying. He bit back a cry and forced himself to focus on the conversation rather than Hakko’s hands. “Never thought about it.”

“I have.” Hakko dragged his nail along the sensitive rim of Poe’s cock while moving Poe’s leg to wrap about his waist. Poe was so mesmerized by Hakko’s words he hadn’t realized what it was Hakko was doing to him. “I can use it on you.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, but not here.” Hakko released Poe and rolled over. The suddenness of his actions confused Poe. His eyes had shifted to a more predatory gaze as he watched the opposite shoreline. But he remained mum about what he saw.

“Hakko?”

“Hmm?”

“What was that?” Poe paddled close to Hakko and tried to settle on his lap, not for playing but for concern.

“Don’t know what you’re talking about,” A wicked smile graced Hakko’s face, though his eyes remained intent elsewhere.

“What’s going on?” Poe searched the shoreline but saw nothing, only the remains of an old fire.

“Someone’s watching us,” Hakko said as he stared across the river. Poe tried again and in the middle of the tall grass, he spotted a glimmer of eye shine looking back at them.

“Well, fuck that noise. I am not going to be someone’s pleasure show.” Poe stood and righted his shorts where they clung to his legs.

“There’s a towel for you on the grass. And a cooler as well.” Hakko waved a hand toward the small clearing of scrubgrass and sand. He remained where he was in the river, constantly searching the shore.

“If the thing was going to bother us, he would've by now.” Poe grumbled. He peeked in the cooler and found it lined in foil and a small travel mug nestled inside. Even though it was summertime, hot drinks made blood taste that much better. “Oh, thank you!”

Poe wrapped the towel around his waist and sat on a smooth rock. Hakko’s protective instincts would be in overdrive until the creature made a move. When it came to anyone in Hakko’s circle, he was hypervigilant. No one was allowed past him until he was satisfied with their reasons. Poe liked it, except when it ruined the romantic mood.

Being a dragon’s partner could be odd at times and comforting at others. Hakko did everything in his power to make Poe’s life better, and Poe marvelled at that commitment every day.

He had a brief moment of pity for the owner of the eye shine because there was no way Hakko was going to let that one go. It’d make for a good story. Poe tipped his head to the side as the creative thoughts began churning in his head.

“Come on, Hakko! I’m getting cold.” It was a pathetic excuse, but Poe’s fingers itched to start writing, and he wanted to spend time not being watched with his beloved.

How his world had changed for the better. Poe never thought that returning to Granite would save his life. And here he was, on the shores of the river he grew up on with a dragon he loved at his side.
