"Long time no see," Zayne says, his smile still in place despite the way Zeus is simmering across the room.
"You two know each other?" Hemlock asks, his eyes darting back and forth between the two men, and I can see him trying to calculate if this is a dangerous situation.
"No," Zeus growls at the same time Zayne speaks up.
"Frankie and I used to suck each other's dicks in high school."
Silence fills the room for a few beats.
"You're gay?" Lark asks, turning his attention to Zeus.
The man swallows, and I know without looking around that there is more than one mouth hanging open in surprise.
"I'm not gay," Zeus grinds out, his fists clenched like he's seconds away from beating the shit out of the newcomer.
"That's what he told me right before he joined the Marine Corps and disappeared."
