Lennon took her bag and led her up the grand staircase from the foyer. Chance was coming in the door at that moment and laid eyes on me, a confused look on his face.

“You have a gift,” he said. “It’s in the ballroom.”

I rolled my eyes. “Would you stop calling it that.”

“Well that’s what it looks like, little sis.”

“It’s a meeting room, where I meet clients, subordinates and other members of the syndicate.”

“It’s a goddamn ballroom and you know it. I don’t care whatever the modern damn name is for it.”

“What is it?”

He smiled, before he handed me a note. “There was a note with it.”

I opened it, recognizing the letterhead.

I heard you have new digs. Here’s something to get you started.

King.

I ran down to the meeting room and opened the double doors. At the very end, I saw a huge chair, no scratch that, a throne fit for a Queen.

“Looks good, huh?” Chance said from behind me.

“Yeah.”

“Who the hell is King?” he asked me. He’d been in prison so long, he hadn’t heard the news from Melbourne. Although, King had been around for a while, she hadn’t really been known in other states. Not until the last couple of years or so, Lennon had told me. I’d never even heard of her until she became a constant in my new life.

“I’ll tell you later, brother. For now, get everyone together. I think we have some guests tonight and I’d love for them to see me perched up there like a motherfucking Queen.”

Chance chuckled and left me alone in the room. I took another look at the throne and decided to sit on it later, and own it because I was already the one people feared in Sydney. No one dared cross me, not after I took out everyone who had done so in the beginning. No one dared upset me, or they became a prisoner in Frostgate.

Later that night

I could hear everyone in the meeting room, behind the doors. Discussing their businesses and creating rumours about me. I didn’t care. I had the run of the town, let them spread their rumours. Let them fear me.

As I pushed open the doors, everyone fell quiet as I made my way down the aisle they’d formed. My heels clicking on the tiles beneath me, Linda and Dell behind me. Lennon stood next to my chair, my second in command as always, and Chance, Hadrian, Pierce, and Caelan stood to the other side. I moved up the two stairs of the podium and turned to sit on the throne.

Throwing one leg over the other, I put my arms on the armrests of the throne and looked out at everyone. I’d upended their criminal empires, caused devastation that no one saw coming, and now I had everyone I trusted in the same room, behind me, trusting my every move.

I’d caused havoc and now they all prayed to me. They came to me for justice, and for help. I ran Sydney, and I would eventually take over all of Australia…

It was only a matter of time.

As I looked out at all of the men and women who tried to best me, who tried to kill me, I had them trembling under my perfectly tanned and stiletto strapped feet. “Let’s start…shall we?”

My reign had just begun.Long live the Queen.
