His breathy laughter vibrated against my back, and I grinned.

“You two—my office,” Johnston said as he walked into the clubhouse, Aaliyah hot on his heels. She smiled at Chase and dropped a kiss to his cheek before she disappeared down the hall to their room, her red hair bouncing around her shoulders like some runway model.

I’d never truly been interested in Aaliyah like that, but I had to admit she was a beautiful damn woman. Johnston was lucky as fuck to call her his.

Chase frowned at me. I shrugged. Fuck if I knew why we were being summoned to Johnston’s office.

We both stood and followed Johnston. When we walked inside, he made a motion for us to shut the door. Chase did whileI dropped into the chair across from Johnston’s desk, wincing when pain shot through my ass. Chase’s lips twitched with a smirk as he leaned a hip on the side of the chair and crossed his arms over his chest, giving Johnston his undivided attention.

“Are you interested in transferring charters?” Johnston asked me.

I blinked because that had come out of left fucking field. “What?”

Johnston sighed in irritation. Fuck knew he wasnota fan of repeating himself. “Are you?—”

I held up a hand, shaking my hand. “Wait—no. I heard you. It just shocked me.” I glanced up at Chase, then nodded, focusing back on Johnston. “Yes, eventually. I’d like to transfer charters. But I know that’s not doable right now.”

“We’re good with long distance, no matter how long that has to be,” Chase told him, his hand dropping to settle on my shoulder. I reached up to gently squeeze it.

“I know you weren’t going to bring this up on your own with everything going on,” Johnston said. “And Chase understands the club life. He’s the VP of the Texas Charter for a reason. But when all this Russian bullshit is over with, Trigger, you can transfer. Scorpion has already agreed to take you on. You’ll drop rank, but?—”

“I don’t care about rank,” I told him honestly. “Just being allowed to transfer at all is enough, Prez.”

He scoffed, scowling at me. “You really thought I’d make you three do long distance forever, Trigger? If I had to do long-distance with my wife at all, I’d probably lose my fucking mind. I’m an asshole, but I’m not fucking heartless.”

I smirked. “Jury’s still out on that one.”

He pointed a finger at me, and my smirk widened into a grin. “Don’t test me.” He made a waving motion. “Get the fuck out of my office. I’ve got shit to do.”

I stood, and Chase pulled open the door, stepping out first. I paused in the doorway, holding the handle. Turning to look back at Johnston, I said, “I know I’ve got a while here still, but I want you to know, you gave me a home and a family, Johnston. That’s something I’ll never be able to repay.”

He sighed, scowling at his laptop, not even bothering to look at me. “I’m not a sentimental fucker, Trigger, but you men gave me somewhere to belong, too. You trusted me when you didn’t know shit about me.” He jerked his chin toward the hall, then looked down at the spreadsheet in front of him. “Now get. I really do have shit to do.”

I chuckled and left the room, a grin pulling at my lips. Chase was waiting for me at the end of the hall, and he grinned at my huge smile. “Still got a while,” he reminded me.

I hummed and threw an arm around his neck. “Not if we take care of these fuckers pretty quickly.”

He shrugged one shoulder. “Still playing the waiting game.”

I licked my lips, eyeing him out of the corner of my eye. “But what if we weren’t?”

He stopped and turned to face me. I dropped my arm, shoving my hands into the pockets of my jeans. He crossed his arms over his chest. “What are you suggesting, Trigger?”

I flashed him a wicked grin full of teeth and pure darkness. “I say we start fucking shit up.”
