“You two are the cutest. Babies soon?” his mom cut in.
He chuckled against Gabi’s mouth before lifting his head.
“Jeez, Mom. She just figured out how awesome I am for her. Don’t scare her off.”
“Please, if this doesn’t work out, I think I’ll kick you out of the family and keep Gabi,” his mom said.
“Mom. Harsh.” He gasped.
Gabi laughed and tucked herself into his body.
“Don’t worry, Max, you might drive me insane sometimes—all the time—but you’re my kind of crazy and I’m not letting you go any time soon.”
“Damn right, you aren’t. I love you, Gabi,” he said.
“I love you, Max Mortimer,” she said. Then she winked and he heard a pop.
Confetti fell down around them from a confetti gun she had hidden somewhere.
Damn. She was perfect.
He cupped her face his hand hands and leaned down, pouring all of his love for her into one blissful kiss.
How the hell had he gotten so lucky?
