But she said nothing, just smiled at him and nodded.
“I’m lucky to have a father like you.”
Wyndham smiled at that, but I detected a note of sarcasm. She didn’t fully mean what she was saying, did she? From first impressions, I guessed there was more to Sabrina. She was like an onion, the layers of which would have to be peeled delicately. But I was definitely not going to be doing any peeling.
“And I am lucky to have a beautiful daughter like you,” Wyndham said and gave her another hug.
It made me want to barf. All this display of affection and familial love. How much of it was put on? It was obvious to me that Wyndham used his daughter as another one of his bragging tools. Many men in his position used their trophy wives, while Wyndham had his daughter.
How much Sabrina knew about this, I wasn’t sure. She had a vault around her that she wasn’t going to drop.
“Is that all, Daddy? I’m tired from my trip. Jetlagged. I want to go to my room and unwind.”
“Of course, sweetheart! Of course, you go. Spike will keep an eye on you. You don’t have to worry about a thing.”
She smiled sweetly at him and started walking out of the room. That was my cue. I was on the clock now. I glanced at Wyndham who nodded while I caught up with her.
She had to have known I was right there behind her but she didn’t look at me once. I followed her all the way around the big house till we were finally standing in front of a door. The door to her bedroom.
She flipped around to face me. Finally. I had to do everything to not stare directly at her tits. The dress stretched tight over them.
“You are not coming in here,” she said.
I crossed my arms over my chest.
“Yes, I am,” I replied.Sabrina stood with her back to the door, hands behind her too. What I really wanted to do was lift her up in my arms, keep her pinned to this door and take possession of that luscious mouth.
She eyed me closely.
“I am not letting a man into my room,” she hissed and I had to grin.
“Is that some kind of oath you’ve taken?”
That annoyed her. Her nose was pinched and she pursed her mouth proudly.
“I am not a virgin if that is what you’re implying.”
“I’m not implying anything.”
“I want some privacy. It’s my bedroom. I’m pretty sure I’m entitled to it.”
She was so sweet and coy in front of her father, hugging and full of love, right now; she was anything but those things. I knew the real Sabrina was going to be revealed to me very soon.
“We could take this up with your father if that’s what you want. He has given me full access to you.”
Her nostrils flared but only for a moment, then she broke into a smile.
“Full access? There are one or two things I’m sure Daddy would not want you doing,” she replied.
“Full access to your bedroom…” I fumbled with the words. “I mean your room. Your life…”
Fuck! She got me! I wasn’t supposed to get caught up in my words like that.
Sabrina smiled widely; she knew she had been successful in slipping me up. She opened the door to her bedroom and tried to slip in but I pushed it hard, making it swing open. I wasn’t about to let her slip away from me.
“You are persistent about what you want,” she said, turning to me again with sizzling eyes. She knew as well as I did that we were not supposed to be speaking to each other this way. In fact we were barely supposed to be speaking to each other at all.
“It’s not about what I want. It’s about my job. My job is to shadow you, and that is what I’m going to do.”
Sabrina gritted her jaws now. The color rose in her cheeks. All of a sudden, she’d lost the playfulness in her demeanor.
“Are you going to tell me what’s going on? Why has my father hired you to watch me? Why not give me someone else from his security detail like he usually does?”
“That is something you will have to ask your father,” I replied.
Sabrina took a few steps toward me, bringing her face even closer to me. I was watching her mouth move. She was watching me closely too, tipping her head back so she could look at me.
“I’m asking you, Spike. What is so special about you?”Jeffrey Wyndham was completely wrong about his daughter in thinking that she would just sit back and believe every little lie he told her. She knew exactly what was going on. The fact that her father was trying to hide the truth from her. The truth about why I was really here.
