“So what now?” Ghost asked.
“Go home. Get some sleep. Keep the prospects on standby and tomorrow, we make a plan,” I said.
None of us liked the idea. I didn’t want to sit around twiddling my thumbs either, but it wasn’t like we had much of a choice at this point. Besides, I needed to take care of the Allegra business. Earlier, she’d looked like she had something to say. Maybe she was itching to leave. I still wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with her.I stepped out of the common room and headed for the bar. That was where I’d seen Allegra last and hoped to find her there still. I was on my phone, scrolling through some of the texts my informants had sent me. None of them had been successful in finding valid information on the Silver Knights.
But when I looked up, it felt like my jaw physically hit the floor.
The first sight to greet me was that of Allegra perched on a prospect’s knee. I stopped in my tracks, staring at them, in complete disbelief of what I was seeing.
She looked completely different now, so different that for a moment I wasn’t sure if it was even her. She had very bright makeup on her face. A pink lipstick that had the hue of cotton candy. Some green stuff around her eyes that clashed with the brilliant blue of her gaze. She’d tied her hair up untidily in a top knot. Her shirt was knotted up around her bra, revealing pretty much all of her torso. Even though she was sitting, I could see her jeans were hanging low. Very low.
What the actual fuck?
The guy whose lap she was sitting on was a young prospect I hadn’t interacted with much. I couldn’t even recall his name.
He was on a barstool and Allegra was on his left knee, clutching him with her arms around his neck. He had his face very close up to hers. He was saying something…raunchy. I could tell from the way Allegra’s lips curled in a forceful laugh.
I just stood there, glaring at them with fire bursting out from both my ears. He raised a hand and I watched him place it on her bare waist. He was touching her. Where else had he touched her already?
I charged at them before I knew what I was doing. A loud war cry erupted from my throat. I was like a bull with a waving red flag in front of my eyes. I wanted to kill him.
How dare he touch her? How dare he put his grimy hands on her?
I lunged at him and bunched up my fist. It landed on his jaw, knocking him back off the stool. Allegra squealed and jumped up from his knee in time. The guy was lying on his back on the floor, covering his face with both hands for protection.
I reached down and grabbed him by his collar. Around us, I could sense the chattering had stopped. Everyone was looking, but nobody was going to step in. I was in a position of power and respect in this Club. This dickhead was not.
“Flash! What are you doing?” It was Allegra, shouting behind me. I had lifted the prospect off the floor by his collar, breathing hotly on his face, snarling at him like a wild animal. “Flash! Stop!”
I looked at her over my shoulder. She was standing a few paces behind us, with Sophie beside her. Her cheeks were red, her hair had come undone, and she was staring at me—begging me with her eyes.
“What the fuck do you think you are doing dressed like that?” I snarled at her.
Allegra’s shoulders rose and fell. She had her mouth wide open but it seemed like she couldn’t speak for a moment.
“Please, Flash, let him go. This is not his fault,” she said. Her voice was like a murmur, but everyone could hear her.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” I growled. I released the prospect and he crashed back to the floor. I turned to Allegra fully now, wanting to face her head-on.
She took a few steps back and I went further toward her. She wasn’t going anywhere till I got some answers.
“I can do whatever I want. You’re not my keeper,” she snapped. Her voice was sizzling, and her chin was up.
“You are in my Clubhouse. This is my territory. The ground you stand on right now belongs to me, so you better have a good explanation for this.” I was breathing heavily as I spoke, coming toward her.
She gulped but her nostrils flared. I could see she was trying to stay strong. She was strong. I had to hand it to her. Most other chicks would have broken down in tears by now, but not her.
“I don’t have to give you an explanation for my actions. I’ll leave if that’s what you want. I’ll go now,” she said proudly.
