“Welcome to our MC,” Drax said after a few moments of silence. Flash had made the announcement after getting everyone’s attention. Nobody had spoken yet, but Drax finally broke the silence.

I blushed as he came toward me and patted my shoulder.

“I have to say, this is not the guy I knew a few days ago. He’s a changed man.”

I glanced at Flash, who was trying not to smile. I looked back at Drax and nodded.

“I’ll try not to make any more structural changes to your Club,” I said. That made him let out a happy grunt.

“Good. I don’t think I can handle any more of it.”

That seemed to be the cue for everyone else to start chattering and talking. They came up to congratulate Flash, and they congratulated me too. I didn’t know what exactly to say. I just shook hands and accepted the compliments. The men pulled Flash’s leg and made jokes that I wasn’t in on yet. The resounding theme of the jokes was that Flash wouldn’t be able to sleep around anymore.

Reality was beginning to sink in now. Flash was making some big changes in his life. Just like mine was changing, his was too. I trusted him. I knew we would be happy together, but would he really be able to give up his old lifestyle overnight? What about all the women he slept with? Were there going to be any crazy ex-lovers?

I watched Flash amongst his men, the people he spent all his time with. He looked happy and content, completely relaxed, even though he had a gunshot wound on his arm. Even though last night had been an extraordinary experience for me—something I would have nightmares about, these men didn’t seem to care so much.

I was realizing quickly how different my new world was going to be. There were so many new factors I would have to get accustomed to. The most important one being that Flash may be my man and I may have him in my bed, but he was already faithful to someone else—his MC. These people were always going to be his priority.

When he caught my eye, I smiled.

The truth was I was falling in love with him. But we hadn’t said those fateful words to each other yet. I didn’t even know if he believed in them. Would he laugh at me if I told him how I actually felt? Would he look at me differently?

I didn’t know what the rules were concerning falling in love. Was it even allowed?

I could feel myself becoming more anxious with every passing minute.Sophie found me at the back of the common room.

We had been here for close to an hour and after Flash’s announcement, it had turned into somewhat of a party in here. Everyone was drinking and celebrating like they’d all forgotten what had happened last night.

Flash squeezed my hand or kissed me or touched my waist every time he saw me. That made me feel a little better, but I still couldn’t get over the fact that these people were in such good spirits so quickly.

When Sophie came up to me with two big glasses of whisky and coke, I was secretly glad. We hadn’t really spoken much since our last conversation when she told me she’d slept with Flash.

“Thought you could use some company,” she said and handed me a glass. I gulped down some of that drink and instantly felt warmer, better. “Congratulations, by the way, you got him.”

I snapped my face around to look at her, immediately defensive.

“It’s not like I trapped him. Neither did I force him to make this decision. This was completely his own choice.”

“I know. This is Flash we’re talking about. Nobody else is going to make up his mind for him. I know you didn’t do any of those things.”

I took another big gulp of my drink while Sophie stared at me with a lingering smile.

“Hey, look, you don’t have to justify yourself or make excuses or defend your relationship. Do you understand what I’m saying?”

I met her eyes, searching for an answer there.

“I’m sure this is a huge step for you. A big change. You’ve never lived in this environment before. Around this kind of men. But the fact that Flash has claimed you and made you his woman means that you are in a position of power now. Own it. Wear it with pride.”

I gulped, my shoulders beginning to relax. I felt like I was finally beginning to understand what Sophie was saying.

“He picked you. Do you get it? He’s been with many, many chicks in the past. Present company included,” she continued and rolled her eyes. “But that is exactly where they are—in the past. He didn’t claim any of them, but he claimed you. You should take credit for that, instead of hiding in the shadows. You have nothing to run from anymore. You have the support of the whole MC on your side.”
