Omari looks around, wraps his arm around my waist and leans his head on my chest. “Thank you for this,” he whispers. “I never thought I’d find someone that I’d want to spend the rest of my life with.” He looks up at me, his eyes shining. “But I can’t imagine my life without you and Little Raf in it. You’re nothing I thought I wanted, but everything I always needed. I love you, Rafael Orozco.”
“I love you too, Omari Orozco.”
He chuckles against my lips as I bend to kiss him. “That has a nice ring to it.”
“It does,” I say, kissing him again.
I thought I would spend my life alone, my club and my brothers filling the empty spaces in my day. My soul was too damaged, too tattered with the losses I’ve experienced throughout my life. So much so, that I didn’t think I would be whole enough to treat someone the way they deserved.
But Omari looked past all that. He made me confront my feelings for him and be a better man for my nephew. If it weren’t for him, I’d be a shell of the man that I am now. Before him, I had brief flashes of bright spots, nothing tangible, nothing I could hold on to. Now every day is bright. Every day is filled with more love and happiness than I canhandle. My soul is no longer tattered— it’s mended together stronger than before.
It’s all because of Omari.
He’s the property of the Prez.
