He had gone on more missions after Louis. Much shorter ones, but ones all the same. He had missed it. The going off and ‘saving the world’ bit as I had put it, although Malachi had chuckled at the sentiment.
We had spent the first two weeks after his return fucking and talking. I had felt humiliated, but he understood why I had had those feelings. His main focus was still going to be on the city, but if there was a mission Malachi needed done and his brothers and sisters were unavailable, then it was up for discussion whether or not he left.
The night we had first met he had asked me what I had faith in. I had answered in my head that of course I had faith in something. I had faith in words. I had faith in the Doctor, despite him being fictional, but other than that, there was nothing else in this world of which deserved my faith.
Until that night, I supposed. Until I had met Grey. My faith in him was unwavering.
We had always been inevitable. Our euphoria was always meant to be.
I wasn’t sure how the world would look at it. How the world would see us and try and make it make sense in their minds. Someone like me, dark and enigmatic, and someone like him. Beautiful, strong, unbreakable.
All I knew for certain was that over a billion trillion years, the stars of my soul and the stars of his had been on a path towards each other, and when they exploded together, all of the pain andhardships and nonsensical things of our lives finally made sense.
The inevitability of this world never made sense to me. I mean, how could something be so unavoidable? How was fate sosure, but now I knew.
Charlie pushing me to go say hi to Ash, that was inevitable.
Ash and Syn running into each other in the hallway in Highschool? That was inevitable.
Charlie and mom going out on a drive that night, that was inevitable.
Me wandering drunk into the gas station just to buy another bag of gummy worms, despite my stockpile at home, and then walking around the corner for a quick break before my walk home? That had been inevitable.
Grey and I, what we shared, what we felt, the constant pull towards each other, it was inevitable.
My ghost no longer haunted me, and his demons? They had long since silenced.
It was either that or they were too busy fucking to be bothered with anything else anymore.
I bit my lip, my eyes falling to Grey’s lips for half a second before I found his eyes.
His pupils widened, a smile touching his lips. “Don’t inhale yet, Snowflake,” he mumbled, leaning in until his parted lips teased mine. “Not until it’s my air you breathe in.”
So, here it is. Our story.
Perhaps it isn’t as exciting as you might have hoped, but love stories rarely are.
I met her on a dark night simply because I wanted to breathe for a moment before returning home. I hadn’t been searching, in fact, my eyes were closed to the thought of someone ever having the capacity to love me. There were rules. Malachi never wanted us to bring people into our world for fear of them getting hurt or killed, what he didn’t know was that Emily would have died had she remained in hers.
It was a miracle that we found each other outside of that gas station on July 7th, 2021, but there we were. Two lost souls colliding perfectly until our fire created a galaxy all its own.
I don’t know where you are in this world or what is going through your mind, just know that stars collapse and galaxies form and rain falls bringing that star dust straight down until it seeps into your very skin. You are made of stardust and darkness and light, and no matter where you are or what you’re going through, you will always be one decision away from finding yourself halfway out of the dark.
