“I hope you don’t mind,” she said. “Your brother insisted I come be the other witness in your wedding. I’m apparently a half step up from a stranger. Besides, my friends, who I was supposed to meet here, are missing in action somewhere and no one is answering their phones,” she rambled.

“Aw, that sucks. You’re more than welcome to be here and thank you for standing in on our crazy Vegas wedding.”

Jared went and spoke to the officiant and then we got into our places, went through a very hasty set of vows, and before I could even wrap my mind around saying “I do” and having the life kissed out of me in front of my brother and several strangers, everything was over, and I was suddenly a married woman. Well, I would be as soon as the paperwork got filed first thing in the morning.

I glanced around, feeling as though I was in shock, and when the reality hit, I shouted, “Oh, my God! I just got married!”

“No take backs,” Jared joked.

“Never.” I leaned in and kissed him and then pulled away just enough so that I could give him his present before we even left the building as husband and wife. “I’m pregnant.”

Jared’s eyes grew wide and then I could see the shift as the love he had for me swam in them and his smile grew to epic proportions. “Are you serious?”

“I told you that I’ve been working on it for a few weeks. Seven to be exact. I just found out yesterday, but I wanted to find a cool way to surprise you.” I grinned at him with all the cheesiness I could muster. “Surprise!”

“What’s the surprise?”

“Looks like I already knocked your sister up,” Jared answered my brother.

“Oh, congrats,” plane girl clapped as she offered us both genuinely sweet smiles.

“That was fast. I seem to remember earlier at my house you mentioned needing to work on it.”

“Yeah, well, when you’re good, you’re good.” Jared pretended to pop his collar and then grabbed my hand and started to pull me toward the door. Once we were super close, he leaned in and picked me up.

“Hey dumbass, you’re supposed to carry her over the threshold into your hotel room, not out of the wedding chapel.”

“Nah, I’m carrying her over every single one now.” I held his face in both my hands and kissed him long and deep, not caring who might stumble past and see us lip locked. As I pulled back, it was obvious that my ring finger was still sans ring. I held it up to him and he shrugged.

“Sorry, Twinkles. I planned to get us inked so that we always had our rings on, but I don’t know if we can do that now.” He amended that quickly. “I can, but I don’t know if you can. I’ll get you a ring as soon as we get back home.”

“Get her a chain to wear the ring on too because her fingers might turn into fat sausages with the baby weight,” Kip yelled from somewhere further down the street. I turned just in time to flip him off as he walked around the corner with the woman from the plane.

“I guess we’re going ring shopping when we get back. Are you getting your tattoo done here?”

“I was going to, but I really want to get it done with you.”

“Then we’ll wait.”

“Are you sure?”

“Positive, but I think you should definitely get Property of Star” tattooed somewhere visible on your body, just in case any bitches get stupid ideas. They’ll know who is going to deliver their beat down for attempting to touch what’s mine.”

“No one is touching me, but you.”

“I said when they attempt to,” I teased as I made of show of buffing my nails against my shirt. “I have a reputation to uphold now.”

“Okay, Killer.” Jared laughed at me. “No more fighting until after our baby gets here. Just take names or something.”

“Jared?”

“Yeah?”

“I love you!”

“Love you too, Twinkles.”

“Asshole,” I muttered.

“Love of my life,” he volleyed back.

“That’s better,” now get me back to our hotel room so we can celebrate.
