“Why are you two staring at each other like that?” said Esther as she walked into the room.

“Hi, Esther,” Basil greeted her. He kissed her on both cheeks and handed her flowers.

“You bought me flowers?” Esther smiled.

“Yes, I bought flowers for my beautiful ladies.” He handed Janet her flowers and then approached Sanaa and Kim. “Flowers for the princesses,” he said as he handed them both flowers.

“Thank you,” Sanaa and Kim said in chorus. Basil smiled and patted both of them on the head.

“Do you like the house?” he asked Esther.

“Yes, it’s amazing. Thank you so much,” she replied. Basil had bought a house for Janet’s family since Janet wanted them to move to Dallas. Janet had protested and begged him not to buy a house for them, but Basil was adamant. For him, it was something small. He wanted to do that and more for Janet. If she asked him to go to the moon for her, he would, in a heartbeat. He was so blessed to have a second chance for love and having a complete family.

“You don’t have to thank me. If you need anything, just let me know,” Basil replied.

“Let’s go and do your room,” Sanaa said to Kim. The two of them held hands and walked out of the room with their flowers in their hands.

“They’re so adorable,” Janet smiled as she watched Sanaa and Kim walking away together.

“They are,” Basil agreed.

“So how long have you been dating?” Esther asked Basil and Janet.

“Huh?” Janet was caught off guard by her mother’s question.

“I still have yet to take her out on a proper date,” Basil replied.

“You haven’t?” Esther was surprised.

“No, I’m not very good at courting. You’ll have to help me.”

“Of course.”

Basil looked at Janet and took her hand into his. “I want you to be my woman, not Sanaa’s nanny. I want you to be at my side forever,” he said.

“I want you to be my man too,” she said shyly.

“Aww,” Esther placed her hands on her heart. “Thank you for helping us with the cartel. We owe you so much for being there for us.” She smiled and rubbed Basil’s arm. Basil smiled back at her. She walked out of the room.

“We do owe you,” said Janet. Basil pulled her closer to him and placed his hands on her waist.

“You can pay me back by giving me a kiss.” Basil dipped his head and kissed Janet.

“I love you,” she whispered against his mouth.

“I love you.”
