That’s not to say that I don’t like her—she’s a special girl that has a lot going for her—but outside of this deal, would either of us give the other a second glance?

“I should probably get home,” she says and quickly stands up from the table. “I still have a load of laundry to do.”

“Peyton, wait.”

“I’ll be outside.”

I take care of our check and rush to where she’s waiting beside my car. “I’m sorry. I wasn’t trying to hurt your feelings. I’m just trying to be realistic about things.”

“Do you think I don’t know that?”

“Look at me.” Placing my finger underneath her chin, I lift her face so she has no choice but to meet my gaze. I can almost hear her breath hitch in her throat. “It’s been two days. We can’t disagree about something until it’s been at least a week.”

I know she thinks I’m going to kiss her—and under any other circumstances, I probably would—but I know that if I do, it will confuse her more.

Her lip finally curls and I detect the slightest hint of a smile. “Don’t mind me, okay?”

I’m not sure what she means by that, so I let it go for now. On the way home, I pull off the side of the road to watch the sun set. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and what better person to share the moment with. She curls her legs up into the seat and I reach over to take her hand. In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a hand holder and Peyton just so happens to have the softest hands.

We continue to see each other the rest of the week, and on Saturday, I ask if she’d like to go over to Jim’s place. “He has one more week left at work. I’m sure going to miss the old fart.”

“Any word on you taking over his position yet?” she inquires.

“Nope, not a thing. I’m pretty sure they’re finished interviewing everyone who applied, so now we wait. Hey, before I forget, grab your swimsuit. Jim has this pool that I think you’ll love.”

Just as I’d hoped, Jim and Peyton hit it off almost instantly. She knows he’s the one responsible for the fake-wedding, but she doesn’t let on that it bothers her. Jim’s hitting the beer pretty hard tonight and after we eat, he disappears inside.

“Want to go for a swim?” I stand up and walk to the edge of the pool. Jim added neon lights to his fence several weeks ago and a soft glow radiates around the pool’s perimeter. I lift my shirt off then look back to where she’s sitting.

“How’s the water?”

I dip my foot down into the pool, creating a ripple in the glass-like surface. “It’s perfect.”

It’s okay if she doesn’t want to, but I jump in without giving it anymore thought. Peyton stands up and I can’t help staring as she slowly removes her t-shirt over her head. And that’s when something inside me clicks.

Instead of diving in, she sits down on the side and I swim over to her. Swirling her long legs in the water, I take the notion and move into the open space. I lace my fingers through hers then give her hand a tug. “Come on, the water feels great.”

Without saying anything, she slips off the edge and into the pool. We both look back towards Jim’s house when the porch light suddenly turns off.

Thank goodness it’s a clear night and the moon is only a few days away from being completely full. There’s just enough light for me to take in her beauty.

Out of the blue, Peyton lowers her hands underneath the water and rests them against my hips. With my face inches from hers, I nuzzle my nose against the side of her neck.

“Mmm,” she softly mumbles.

I bring my hands to her back and twist the strap of her top between my fingers. “Have you ever been skinny-dipping?” I whisper into her ear.

She shakes her head and droplets of water splash against my face. “No. Have you?”

In one swift movement, I pull the string, freely releasing her breasts. “There’s always a first.”

Bobbing up and down in the water, I’m impressed with the set of tits she has. Full, round globes that are silently screaming for me to grab onto them. She takes her left breast and lifts it towards my mouth.

I trail my tongue along the edge in a circular pattern and almost immediately her nipple hardens.

“Peyton,” I manage to say. Flicking my tongue over the sensitive flesh, she gasps and tosses her head back. Not wanting the other side to feel left out, I give it equal attention.

I don’t know where her top ends up and quite frankly, it’s the least of my worries. I let go of her breasts long enough to make an adjustment to my swim shorts, which she finds to be a little humorous.

“Do you have a problem down there?” she teases.

“Yeah, a big problem.” I grab hold of her hand and guide it to my dick.

Just as I’d hoped, she wraps her fingers around it, giving it a gentle squeeze. “Oh, my god.” I bite down on my lower lip and close my eyes.

I jerk my head back as soon as I feel her warm breath against my cheek. If I kiss her, it’ll mean something more and I’m not ready for that.
