“I’d hurry the fuck up with your deal, asshole, or I’m gonna be making that face of yours even harder to stomach!” I growl back, walking slowly toward him. Jake’s hand is now sitting still inside one of the beer glasses, waiting for whatever is about to happen to go down. The dude just smiles, before sliding his rear off my stool and sauntering over to me like he could give two shits about my threat or my reputation.
“I’ll give you the name, the location, and any other shit you need on the man who set fire to your mother, but only after you have taken care of one, harmless, target for me,” he says and holds out a card for me to take. Small and white, like he’s handing over his business contact. I glance at it before looking back at him. “You want the details, take it, Flynn!”
I swipe it from him with a sneer, and no sooner than I have, he walks past me, already heading out toward the door to leave. I glance at the card and frown, before looking up at Jake with a raised brow. He matches my expression, questioning my reaction, with his nerves already on tenterhooks.
“What the fuck is this?” I call out to him like he’s playing a bad joke on me.
“That is your target, motherfucker,” he smiles, “you take care of it, I take care of you, comprendè?”
“Why are they a target?” I ask bluntly.
“Collateral damage,” he smiles with yellow teeth, “knows too much.”
He then walks away without another word, creepy ass bastard. I look back at the card again and frown, my head spinning into a world of pain, knowing I am now faced with yet another moral dilemma. Jake stays silent for a while before I hear his voice disturb the air between us.
“What’s the problem? You know them?” I shake my head, my hand still clasped over my mouth as I take in the name written in black ink, along with their address, age, and a small photograph. “Come on, Phoenix, you’re killing me here, who is it?”
“A girl,” I sigh, “a twenty-four-year-old girl; Jessie Metcalfe.”
Fuck!
