“Thank you,” I say and step inside, instantly smelling something delicious cooking. “What are you making?”

“Dinner for my beautiful wife,” he hums, setting all of my stuff down on the sofa.

“Mmm, it smells like chicken Alfredo?” I guess.

He nods. “Right you are, Mrs. Carrington.”

He hasn’t stopped calling me that since the day we got married. It’s cute. I like it.

“Are you ever going to refer to me as Evie again?” I laugh and waft the delicious-smelling sauce toward my nose, my stomach rumbling in response.

He shrugs. “Maybe. But every time I say Mrs. Carrington, I’m reminded you’re really mine forever. Something about that just sounds so goddamn good, and I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to stop.”

“Uh-huh.” I smile as he cages me against the counter. “But you are going to have to stop feeding us Italian all the time.”

He scoffs. “I do not. It reminds me of our first date.”

“The one you stole or the one after that?” I smirk.

I cannot believe that our entire relationship started from him hijacking my date with Brad. When I look back now, it just makes me laugh at how bold it was on both of our parts. We took a chance on each other before even realizing what it would develop into.

But thank God we did.

He kisses my forehead. “Both.”

My heart races as his warm breath hits my lips, and I’m debating on whether or not I should spill the beans now or later. I wanted to put together an elaborate gift to surprise him. But I also don’t know if I can keep this little secret to myself much longer.

“I can physically see the gears in your brain turning,” Nate murmurs, reading me like the back of his fucking hand. “Spit it out.”

I look up, and my gaze bounces between both of his stunning dark gray eyes. This moment … I have craved this exact moment since I was a little girl. I always imagined finding a husband, having kids, and living happily ever after. I just didn’t expect that would happen with my brother’s coach, although, now, he is so much more than that.

Licking my lips, I take a breath, my eyes burn, and my stomach flips over and over as I say, “I’m pregnant.”

I’m not worried that he’ll be upset. He said he was ready to have kids whenever I was and didn’t want to rush me. But I was ready to have his babies on that first date.

His lips part, and his eyes tear up, and his bottom lip quivers as he smiles. “You’re sure?”

I nod as my heart jumps to my throat and my eyes burn with love. “I mean, I haven’t been to the doctor, but the four tests I took at lunch today make me feel pretty sure.”

He lifts me up into the air and spins me around our kitchen, squealing with glee. I giggle and kick my feet in the air as he holds me up.

He lowers me to the ground and wraps me in his arms, whispering, “Evie Carrington, I love you so fucking much.”

“I love you too, Coach Carrington. Do you have your favorite tie handy? I think it could be put to use after dinner,” I say, biting back a smile.

Enthusiastically, he nods. “You know damn well that I always have that ready for your pretty little neck. But if not, we always have these as back up.” He holds his hands up like a surgeon about to get his gloves put on for surgery, and I laugh.

“Mmm. That is a close second place after the tie,” I hum. “You love me, right?”

He wraps his big hand around my jaw and squeezes just right. “Mrs. Carrington, you know I hate questions like that. It makes me feel inadequate as a husband that you have to question it.” His voice lowers, and he whispers, “You’re just being a brat. Maybe after dinner, I’ll have to remind you just how much I love you.”

After feeding me every bite of Alfredo I could possibly swallow, he follows through on his promise and shows me exactly how much he loves me throughout the entire night, over and over again.
