Five years ago, Dante Vega came off Carson Ridge with a concussion, a dead crew boss, and a story nobody believed.
Including the man he’d kissed the night before the mountain burned.
Boone Hatcher has spent those five years atoning the only way he knows how: running the tightest smokejumper base in Montana. Every harness checked. Every procedure followed. If he’s careful enough, maybe nobody else will die the way Dutch Kroeger died.
Then Dante walks through the gate asking to requalify, and Boone’s carefully controlled life comes apart.
The banter comes back first. Then the heat. Then the anger underneath.
When a routine fire does the same impossible thing Dante saw on Carson Ridge, the two of them start pulling at the threads of a five-year-old lie. Dante’s witness statement was rewritten. Dutch had been asking questions before he died. And someone at Silvertip—someone they trust—is watching Boone and Dante.
Into the Fire is MM romantic suspense featuring heat, second chances, found family, dangerous men doing dangerous work, and a hard-won happily ever after. The romance is complete in Book One; the mystery of Carson Ridge continues throughout the Smokejumpers series.
